Hype Bus, Jump on it -FS2024

I just hope they give us a King Air without all the bugs of the current version. I know about the Black Square analog version, and I'm still on the fence with that one. It's drop-dead gorgeous, but I don't want to pay for so many details that I'll never use - mainly the failures. When I fly, I just want to "kick the tires and light the fires" and enjoy a relaxing flight.

Lots to look forward to. The dawn of an all-inclusive sim is here, ...... or so it seems.
I can see the Marketplace in the current sim to get a bit 'lighter' in content soon.

Okay, let's not start fomenting panic-inducing rumors here! That's best left to the official MSFS forums. :)

On Pricing:
MS has standard pricing for base editions of games. They will stick to that for MSFS, I'm sure. FS2020 was $59.99. My guess is that FS2024 will either remain the same, or more likely, jump $10 to the base price for current-generation (Xbox Series X|S) games, $69.99. They have far too big a userbase to go out of line from their base pricing for the standard sim. Probably a similar $0-$10 jump in prices for Deluxe (currently $89.99) and Premium Deluxe (currently $119.99).

Also, keep in mind Game Pass users get a discount, and you can generally get a $1 trial version of Game Pass. For FS2020, Game Pass users pay $71.99 for Deluxe and $95.99 for Premium Deluxe. So when FS2024 is about to release, sign up for a month of game pass, and you can (1) try the standard edition on your PC for the cost of the trial and remembering to set a reminder to cancel before it renews, and (2) get the Game Pass discount on whatever edition you choose to buy.

On included aircraft... During the Expo, MS stated:
* FS2024 will also include all planes and airports included in FS2020
* All the planes you saw in the trailer (and the 737-MAX8) will be included in the base game (here's a handy list someone compiled on the official forum)

And absolutely nobody at MS has proposed a paid "premium upgrade" for any included plane to add advanced features and doing that doesn't fit MS's business model. They're not trying to make nickels and dimes off hardcore enthusiasts, they're trying to make serious money by encouraging Game Pass subscriptions and selling 40,000 copies of a $14.99 Famous Flyer/Local Legend, rather than selling 651 copies of a $20 more sophisticated FMS for an A330.

At least they havent gone down the "exclusive content" route.... yet. You can always upgrade your version later on via dlc, which is the more expensive option. i.e. preorder to receive this plane or planes only offered via premium.

And on performance, from the interview Sweetd31 posted:

Seb: There’s improved detail and complexity, but also more optimization. For example, the surface system on the plane: in MSFS 2020, there were 500 to 1,000 surfaces on a plane. In the new aircraft, it’s 10 times more, but it’s multi-threaded and optimized, so the cost is about the same. Overall, performance should be similar.

Jorg: Similar or better. We are not changing the system requirements.

My interpretation of this is that you'll likely see similar performance to what you're seeing in FS2020 for the new aircraft that utilize all the new features, and even better performance than FS2020 for legacy aircraft/add-ons that don't push the system as hard.

Cloud textures, weather engine, AI air traffic, AI ship traffic, oil rigs, 'we love VFR' eye candy, road traffic, airport ground services, AI passengers at airports, seasonal variations, landscape vegetation animations, opening aircraft doors, advanced 3D ground texture rendering, working title navigation in more default aircraft, tablet aircraft set-ups, flight replay capabilities, ......... relax, it all now seems to be included in FS2024.

@ Tom. exactly ! "let's hope we at least get doors that work!"

Can we have all the doors and windows that work; a "Fly-by" and a calculated "Touch down point" view like that old program that we used back in FSX (I can't remember the name of right now). The replay function is nice if one wants to use it.

For anyone worried about getting their feet wet in the new sim due to aircraft doors not opening and seeing pilots in parked aircraft locked inside the cabin, I think we have enough hints from MS that it's only fair to say "it's safe to go back into the water" ....... ;)

It perhaps the case of MSFS aircraft but the SDK can be used by developers to open/close anythings !

IMHO, I like to take pics of aircraft parked at airfields, with doors open, and all the accessories associated with parked aircraft in place.

My pet peeve is to see a beautiful aircraft like the P-51 with canopy closed, engine shut down and a pilot still inside. Glad to see this should no longer be the case come November.
