The big issue with these types of aircraft ia an active combat environment is when an engine is hit the aircraft will immediately roll.
 
Each rotor is connected to both engines. If a prop is hit, yes, you're toast, but true in a helicopter too.

Helos have the engine over the center-line of fuselage. These tilt rotors do not. A helo can even with the engine hit auto rotate to a degree more or less. Tilt rotors cannot. Ones chances for a landing (albeit heard) are better in a helo.
