for a ( massive carpet ) bombing run , eclipse-class star dreadnaught ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Eclipse-class_Star_Dreadnaught ) :cost1:
fighter , sienar fleet systems tie defender or nssis-class chiss clawcraft ( yes , i am a star wars nerd )

more realisticaly ( sort of LOL ) figthter would be a horten HO-229 , propfighter would be either a FW190 , bearcat or sea fury
bomber would be a YB-49 or B-2
 
If you are going sci-fi, so will I.

1. Star Wars TIE Defender
2. Macross VF-19 Excalibur
3. Star Wars Incom T-65-XJ X-wing
4. Star Wars TIE Interceptor w/ shield generators
5. Macross VF-1S Super Valkyrie
6. Macross VF-25 Messiah

In actual aircraft I'd choose:

1. Grumman A-6E Intruder
2. Douglas A-4F Skyhawk
3. Fairchild A-10 Thunderbolt II
4. Grumman F8f Bearcat
5. Grumman F7f Tigercat
 
well, if sci fi is allowed, i'm picking the enterprise E

then i don't even have to enter the atmosphere to kick butt, and i sure wouldn't be sweatin the romulan warbird. but i would have to figure out something for the borg cube :help:

I'd hire a Vogon Destructor fleet, rigged up for mass poetry broadcast...Take that Earth!
 
Fast movers-SR-71, simply so I could laugh at whoever tried to catch up, or thought that their missle could catch up too.

Prop--P-47--fast, heavy, and could ake a heck of a lot of damage
Early Jets-- F-86 fitted with Orenda engine
Modern Jets--Eurofighter- almost as good as the Raptor at half the cost
Bomber--The BUFF
Chopper(s)-- UH60 or AH64. Definitely NOT a Huey. (Interesting tidbit: 80% of all UH-1's that got sent to Vietnam DID NOT come back--they were shot down by ground fire)
Attack--DEFINITELY the A-10...:ernae:
 
Props -- F-4U Corsair (a given...) or the Hawker Sea Fury FB-11. Both proven extremely effective in combat, both have shot down MiG-15's.

Jets -- Boeing/MD F-15E Strike Eagle. Gives new meaning to the phrase... "Death from Above", and as stated before... Best service record ever.

i read somewhere that the pilot's lower legs were constantly getting shot up because there was no armor in those areas. without rudder peddles, you're goin down. maybe that's what happened to many of them. (just a guess)
besides, considering the way they were used, it's really no surprise the damage they took.
 
I guess I'd have to go with the Bone as well. Three weapons bays, each loaded with rotary Tomahawk magazines with (if I remember right) eight rounds each. That's 24 individual targets that I don't even need to get close to. Inbound I'm using Terrain Following Radar @ about .90 Mach, then once I dump my load I'm hangin' a one-eighty and climbing to about 5000'AGL and puttin' coal to the fires!
 
On second thoughts, I'd haul my grandpa's trusty old red Fokker Triplane out of the barn and fly to war in true style!
