Do FS-2004 planes automatically work in FS-2002? Or do they need converted too? Or why do some planes say FS-2002/FS-2004 compatible? I don't know exactly how this works...

Some will, some won't.
*Generally speaking*, the newer the FS2004 aircraft, the less chance it has of working in FS2002...

Some planes have carry over code and parts from the FS2000 system that will not work in FS2004. If your landing gear and other bits dont show up, that is why.

If the landing gear is not showing up .
Go into the fs9.cfg file .
Go down the list until you see , [ FrameCallnoWarn ] .
Find the plane you installed, Plane Name=0 ,change the 0 to 1
Go into the fs9.cfg file .
