In defence of MSFS 2024

Interesting comments from our Forum members. I think FS2024 is a much better platform than FS2020 and runs well, better in my opinion, than the earlier version. I recommend just buying the Standard version for $60 USD unless you really want more default aircraft, you can always upgrade in the future if you think it is worth the extra money. I never fly default, only payware aircraft, and when I do purchase an airplane it's always, if possible, from the developer website, not the MS Market Place. It's a bit of a learning curve to set things up, controller setup is different from FS2020, but once you work with it and watch some YouTube videos it's just as easy, in some respects better. I don't even fly FS2020 anymore and once you decide to move on you probably won't look back.

Since I discovered that FS2024, when purchased from the MS Store, can be installed on both PC and Xbox without additional cost, I opted to get Xbox Series X with the 2TB drive. Currently I have only Forza Horizon 4 and 5 on it, and both look and run flawlessly on my big screen in 4K. The Xbox games can also be 'slaved' from the console to my PC, letting the Xbox do the processing and sending the finished visuals over home WiFi to the desktop. Xbox, for me, was a great investment and certainly opened up many doors to unlimited entertainment in all forms, be it streaming, gaming, or simulation.

Eventually I will get FS2024. Just waiting patiently right now for 'the right time'. On a recent trip, we stopped by a Caribbean seafood restaurant where they keep a few cats roaming the premises to keep all the small geckos etc. off the patios. One cat noticed I dropped one cut anchovy to the ground, came and licked it up, then spit it out, then licked it up, then spit it out again, repeating this process several times before walking away. I am sure the cat smelled 'fish', but after getting a taste of it, spit it out as it probably was too salty for it's taste. With FS2024, I often feel like this cat, MSFS2024 is a beautiful sim with great potential, but still leaves a somewhat bitter aftertaste for many users based on their posts in various social media sites. MS will eventually get things right, but I think this sim was released a bit prematurely, hence the issues. I plan on installing FS2024 on my PC as the main 'go to' sim, but will be curious to see what the Xbox version looks like, even though it offers fewer features.

I've been running FS2024 for a few months now and will never go back to FS2020 and will uninstall it soon. I really can't come up with one good reason to keep it installed. As for that taste in my mouth that FS2024 given me, well, lets see, it's like the wonderful flavor of some high quality dark chocolate or a fine German dark beer.
