IndiaFoxtEcho (Dino's) Eurofighter Typhoon released

This is such a well done plane, I can't stop flying.

But I've hit one small problem. Since no one else has mentioned, it's probably something on my end.

If I choose to load the pilot's right hand external fuel tank and try to fill ("add fuel") through Tacpack, nothing happens,
the tank stays empty, there's no increase in fuel or payload weight on the Tacpack screen, and the tank shows as empty
on the plane's MHDD fuel display.

The two other external tanks, center and pilot's left hand, fill as normal, fuel weight and payload weight increase on the
Tackpack screen, and the tanks show as full, and subsequently as being used, on the fuel display.

Am I doing something wrong or leaving out a step somewhere for the right hand external tank?

I'm using box FSX+Acc; my Tackpack is up to date.

Thanks again for a great aircraft! - Rob

@RobM

I have verified the code and there is indeed a small bug so that the right tank will not fill up with the "add fuel" option. It will be fixed in the first update. In the meantime, you can use the "refuel and repair" option which will fill all the tanks -sorry for the inconvenience!

I'm also enjoying that plane quite a lot, even though I need to read the manual to understand some of the commands I couldn't find until now.
I wanted to try to drop some LGBs but I understand the commands to giude the laser are missing for now, and will be added later, so no problems for that.
What about the commands for the radar cursor ? Are they missing as well ? I didn't have time to test that yet.

I have noticed a few problems as well, but some of them might be due to my lack of manual reading :p
For example, the APU switch seems to have no effects (no sounds).
Also, the FLIR switch didn't turn the laser camera OFF, so even though all switches were in the OFF position in the lower right side of the cockpit, the FLIR image was still displayed on the MFD.

Finally, the warning system seems to be a bit strict. Is it really impossible to taxi with open canopy ? Same with the MASS warning, which prevents me from flying in SAFE position. I have to switch it to ARM else the warning comes back every 10 seconds or so. Is it supposed to be like that ?

I finally got the model from Simmarket. Quite a nice model all around in FSXA. I have encountered issues the previous poster mentioned but the biggest issue I ran into was that I have intermittent freezing (as if the flight is paused) at times that lasts up to 6 seconds and reoccurs every few seconds but then oddly the freezing will disappear. I've tried to isolate the issue but so far I have not been able. I just know that there was no freezing on the first flight but then it began after I started running through various cockpit functions. I suspect there is a function that I hit that has a bug that causing the freezing issue but for now I'm going to keep testing and see if I can eventually isolate it.

@StormILM

Sorry to hear that - we encountered similar problems in FSX:SE (only) during the Beta and they were all addressed. In the case of the Beta issues, there was no actual "bug" meaning that the code was correct, but rather FSX:SE was having issues with Mouse Areas associated to some keys (Mouse Areas being applied to a 2D gauge for most keys) - whenever we have found such bugs, I have remodeled the keys to have a 3D Mouse Areas and the problem was gone. Strange thing was that the issue was not consistent across machines, but happened only in FSX:SE: on some machines the issue were the SSK, on some other they were the PoF, on some machines no issues at all...may be yours in a new "variant" of the same issue.
All the cases found so far have been dealt with with the technique above...but some 2D Mouse Areas are still present in the model, which did not cause the problem. Let me know if you can track what is the problematic function.

I also have have this issue occasionally on the same platform.

Yes, in reality it is that strict. It's been modelled pretty well I have to say, the only criticism is the MASS warning should actually sound like MASS as a word rather than M.A.S.S. As individual letters.

i have also noticed that my external tanks will not take on fuel when I'm a2a refuelling?

Yes...with very few exceptions, the warning system has exactly the same conditions as in real life.

...as for the "freezing", I'll appreciate if you let me know in case you manage to nail what function causes the problem for you. As I said, this is likely due to the FSX:SE engine having issues/conflicts with Mouse Area detection - problem with this bug is that it seems to show in different ways on different machines. On mine and on the testers' machines, the retail version (that is after the fixed) seems to work perfectly...but due to the strange nature of the issue it may show up again in other ways. I'll do my best to fix it.

As for the fuel tanks not filling in IFR, I will look into that.

Thank you Dino for a superb model. Loving the systems and the flight model is excellent - we've come a long was since the DSB Design version...

Afraid I'm getting the same sim freeze in FSX:SE as reported. Unfortunately I can't nail it down to a specific condition that causes the freezing as yet.

Regards, Dave.

Dino, I still haven't found the exact cause yet but your explanation makes sense. I can tell you that when I use the Control+Shift+R function to enable all the VC system to be Ready for Takeoff, the issue does not occur and the flight runs smooth as glass.

One other tip I want to pass to users regarding the flight handling, I noticed that during some high AoA maneuvers & turns that the model tends to skid a good bit with the nose pointing out of the turn (more or less like an uncoordinated skid turn) but if you enable to Auto-Rudder Control (which I have assigned to a joystick aux button) the model is much more stable in most maneuvers. I now perform takeoff with the Auto-Rudder disabled (to deal with crosswinds) and then enable it once airborne and reverse the process on short final when lined up for landing.

I finally managed to do a short flight in the Mach loop (always wanted to!!!). First impressions are really nice! I'm impressed with how smooth performance is, even with ORBX England/Wales on.

One small glitch I found. Can you check HUD collimation in P3D?

Purchased and learning to fly this bird. Great job -as usual, Dino. Thanks a lot.

@Dimus

AS for the HUD I preferred not to mask the borders as all the masking techniques I know have some issues in bad weather - some of the testers made good cases for prioritizing that.
The collimation should be OK from the pilot point of view, but it is slightly off if you move the viewpoint - this is beacause I had the request to make the projection plane closer than I usually do (again this prevents issues with readability in bad weather).
I'll see what I can do to improve on this points, but they need a bit of thought from my side...

Dino, I agree with everyone so far on the standard of this release - it really is superb! Very immerse, great fun to fly, a really good all-round package. I do have the same problem as Dimus, though, and as a TrackIR user I see the HUD display outside the frame most of the time. It's not by any means a deal-breaker, just thought I'd mention.

Paul.

OK Dino. It would be nice for TIR users. I do not know what the problem is with masking and bad weather. I may fly other jets that have masking applied to understand.

@McQueen79

The aicraft starts in the "aerobatic" configuration - the aicraft is fully flyable without Tacpack, but the avionics presentation (as in real life) is heavily geared towards air combat - and without Tacpack the air to air radar will not work. So you can basically fly only aerobatic demos or navigation (the navigation system is fully working without VRSTP).

Hi, want to buy it now thats on Flight Sim Store..just one question. Not using or about to use TacPack. Will I have weapons load options or allways a clean aircraft? Regards
