Sorry this review is a couple days old by now. I haven't switched and probably won't.
But maybe viewing this will save a few folks some cash by not having to have the latest right away.

 
Havent looked a single review. Sure theres been issues but that hasnt stopped me from enjoying the new sim. I went into this with zero expectations and have had a blast even more so than with MSFS2020 which I still have to fallback on, but for now I definitely wont. If I had any expectations 24' would have exceeded them. Its a work of art with lots of room to grow. Money happily spent.

I think some folks jumped to an opinion far too soon. By the end of the day Tuesday, I actually was looking into requesting a refund for MSFS 2024 - the waiting aside, I also didn't like my initial impressions once I got into the sim the first time. However, after spending a bit more time with it on Wednesday, and then all day Thursday, getting everything squared away and putting some hours on the aircraft, I've been absolutely thrilled with it. Its already become the only flight sim that I currently consider wanting to use. Each time I've loaded a new flight I've been more and more impressed. I can get into the sim and into an aircraft much faster than MSFS 2020, the flight dynamics, ground handling dynamics and water dynamics are so much better, the new wear & tear features (both systems and visual), more accurate natural and artificial lighting, colors, clouds, vegetation, an incredible amount of new AI aircraft, ground traffic, far more detailed elevation mesh, cliff faces and mountains, exceptional water masking, and water that doesn't climb hills any longer, etc... All things that seem lost on the crowd that continue to refer to it as just an expansion rather than an all new sim. And the performance on my PC, running the same graphics settings as MSFS 2020 (ultra), is essentially the same.

The only thing that is a major turnoff for me is the fact that the 2020 stuff isnt that much compatible as they claimed.
Pmdg dc-7 wont be updated. And the fact that still much stuff is still as much broken as it was in 2020. (Traffic for example).
I fear we will be beta testers again for the next few years. Update and update again. And after that . UPDATE. o_O
 
Definitely a throw-it-over-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks release. After the fiasco of the first 24 hours, its been great flying my GA and bush aircraft with the improved scenery (for the most part). Still, lots of broken aircraft and lack of promised features. I expect ongoing updates (like they did for 2020) with incremental improvements along the way.

PMDG’s latest post says the DC-6 will at least get compatibility updates, and might see more if there’s demand.

I only flew it once in 2020, but that was not the aircraft's fault. It was my controller's faults, as they were constantly disconnecting and changing settings, especially on more complex aircraft. I have not had any real problems with them in 2024, except my Tobii constantly drifts to the right, which it does not do in any other sim I've used it in. Temporarily disconnected right now.

I definitely want the DC-6 updated, regardless of cost.
