Iris F-16D Released

Okay, let me address a few points.

Without going over old ground, Cody has very valid points in regards to this product and general FS performance. The hows and whys in relation to maximising performance are varied and in some circumstances, quite complex and over my head.

In answer to various question regarding HUD's... let me make something nice and clear...

The very first HUD we did was coded by myself (in the DSB Design Strike Eagle F-15), that in itself had FPS problems, so we outsourced to Scott Printz when we redid the F-15 under the IRIS label (which is shipped with the F-15C Eagle product.) and now we have a new HUD done by Michael Hagele in the F-16... This is three entirely different HUD's, by three programmers with three unique viewpoints where it comes to design and code layout, one of which IIRC designed the HUD in the Aerosoft F-16! Now ALL of these have frame rate issues on your system, So you're suggesting that three seperate developers are incapable of producing a HUD that doesn't provide an FPS hit??

Let us all remember something... If you have a HUD on, of course it's going to use FSX resources when it's on, more so than when it's turned off...such is the nature of a coded HUD. Same with MFD's and other graphical systems. The more complex the gauge the more system resources it uses. If you have an overhead of performance, you might not notice a difference when you turn the systems on..

However, if you're running FSX right on it's limit, turning on complex systems is going to give you a drop in performance, and that's something to be expected...a simple matter of cause and effect.

Now, why let us ask does the HUD that ships with the Corel F-15 not impact your systems... simple. It's likely lower res, and it's very likely far simpler in its coding and graphical imagery than the more complex HUD units... The one shipping with the F-16D has an A-A mode, A-G mode with calculated CCIP (which in itself has a lot of complex calculations going on) Navigation mode and those are the ones I can think off at the top of my head, and all modes having a working realtime Flight-Path Marker on.

Now, I've put on the IRIS forums, a thread for purchasers to run tests, and allow us to check various things to ease performance issues on the 16, I suggest that any performance issues be brought up there rather than continued here. For one it's not fair on the mods..

And yes, whilst I understand that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, I personally agree with Falcon, ripping out the guts of Michael's hard work not 48 hours after release so you can have a nicer more dumbed down version of the twin seater is a real kick in the face. IMO it's disrespecful and belittles over 2 and a half years of hard work by him, especially when you don't even give him or us a chance to look at optimizing performance.

To be honest, it's c^&p like THAT which makes ME want to throw in the towel, and I've been doing this for over five years! I wouldn't blame Michael if the F-16D is the first and last he does.

"Welcome to the industry Michael, watch whilst we butcher your work. So it fits with an F-16 we want to see." :a1451:

PROBLEM SOLVED!

If everyone could head over to the IRIS Pro Series F-16D Fighting Falcon section of the Iris forums, you'll find a fix in there.

It has DRASTICALLY improved performance for me, no more lagging at all. I'm basing this on flights over Edwards AFB with all scenery settings on full.

Amazing David! Thank you!

Diego

I haven't bought it yet, so I don't think I can view that... but what is it? I just don't want to buy this plane and end up with sluggish performance :(

edit: guess i'll wait to buy it and login there since I don't want them giving this out publicly.,..

I agree Diego. That fix seemed to have done it for me as well. And I really cant notice any difference in the quality either to be honest.

Guys the fix at Iris will help alot!!! I've just done it to my Iris F16D and to the Aerosoft F16 and they are both running better than ever with regard to performance and smoothness!! Thanks for that fix whoever thought of it you've just put me in a fantastic mood!!:ernae:

alright you asked for it! time to see how many here are magpie cross breeds :icon_lol:

With all do respect sir we can bring any issue here..not on your forum regardless of your suggestion...I can,t give anyone a chance to fix what was supposed to fixed before release ,since i intented to use it after purchase. So I did a quick fix ,how can you blame me for that or I said ?..Do you have aftermarket parts on your car..? Did anybody cared if you did ? the designers, the engineers, the management of the car company..No they don,t care cause it,s yours and you can do what heck you want with it including resale..I fail to understand why you refuse to see the logic and similarity of the situations..Same with cars if you use aftermarket parts you void the warranty, wich you don,t offer ,nor the trial versions, nor refunds,or resales..So get over your unreal sensibilities. You may agree with Falcon all day long and you can also thank him for bringing all this stuff up to surface.I realy didn,t want to say anything until the mocking part.Sry about Michael feelings, but Michael got paid at the end of the day and I,m sure not happy with the end result so far.....I can understand the no support policy for modified files..That is understandable and I can live with it.. Waiting for the paint kit. :wavey:

Had anyone brought up poor performance during testing then yes it would have been addressed. As it happens, it wasn't..no-one on the testing team expressed any issues relating to poor performance during the testing and development phases.

As I've said previously, the IRIS forums is the place to go for official support and that's where we'll be posting topics in relation to the F-16.

As you stated you can say whatever you like in SOH..so be it, I'm not saying you can't, in fact I said that I respected that other people have their own opinions as do I.

Anyway, I've said my piece here, so I guess it's a matter of agreeing to disagree... and that's the last I'm going to say on the matter here.

Mr. David "Smudge,"

I looked up the law regarding EULA, to make sure my facts were straight, and as far as I can see it looks like you CANNOT refuse service to a Customer who has purchased a product of yours. Although, you cannot give support services for something you did not make, you as still required, by LAW, to render services to a purchasers/customers. Or, provide some compensation or RETURN policy for defective or unsatisfactory work. Apparently, this is a global policy for all software developers in the business end of production and distribution.

I would like to add that it includes provisions for some resolutions for previously purchased products that were NEVER fixed; and, so that users don't continue to have emotional responses/behaviors (behaviours) from developers regarding to user dis-satisfaction claims, a return policy that covers defective products. The EULA is meant to protect the customer and NOT the developers/distributors, within some boundaries. However, to your credit, the fact that you are providing some user support on your website forums is good. But, you aren't in your right (legally) to claim damages or prevent users (by Law) from changing your products to suit their needs by denying them service.

So, gentlmen, I would hope that we leave all these emotional pleas from the developers, become a little more mature, and provide the customer with better services, that users require or nobodys going to be happy.
Just though that you should know.

Finally, I fully intend to buy your product, but lets put all these DRAMAs aside and behave like professionals, render service, let people play with their toys and seek your help, advice, and even provide you with some of their talents.

In one of my past businesses, I produced durable goods with a warranty that clearly noted that if the customer modified the product outside it's original form or damaged it due to misuse, the warranty was void. Period. I could not be held liable for what they did to the product that may have caused it to fail. If it failed under normal circumstances, then it was up to me to fix it inside the implied warranty period.

In this case as David noted in the earlier thread about modifying the product with parts of another product, it is on you if something goes wrong and you have to fix it yourself. You also have the option to reinstall the original product in it's form the maker supports under the EULA. That's fairly cut and dry.

Next time check with the developers country, even state of business about what the consumer law entitles the consumer to for that business.

It is YOUR CHOICE to refund if the customer:
• has simply changed their mind
• discovered the goods cheaper elsewhere
• knew about a particular fault before buying the goods
• damaged the goods by using them in a way they were not
made for
• does not give you proof of purchase (receipt or bank statement).
If your store policy does allow refunds in these circumstances
let the customer know that you are going above and beyond
what the law requires.

There's a whole page of information:
http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/CA25...ricing~&2=140-Refunds~&3=030-Refund+policies~

So, by reading all of that IRIS is in their rights to refuse you support for twiddling with their product. But, as it stands, they've offered a tweak for it in the meantime.

If the product is not as described, on their store page then you may take umbridge at David's tone, in the meantime I would however keep to the basic facts.

You tweak a product out of the specifications of the product you have no right to demand a fix.

Was it a fault in the beginning, I haven't read that it is, it's a performance issue which at the end of the day is solely reliant on your machine and it's capabilities. It's like buying a sz 20 jeans when clearly you're a 24. You can't return them for wrong sizing.

Mister Yago,

Your paint of the Belgian F16 looks great.
I'am hoping that it will be available soon for dowloading

thank you

Sinse the fix I'm getting outstanding frames both in and out of her, she's absolutely gorgeous!!

What fix ? I went back to simmarket and their is no fix ,or patch or any updates..If you sell a product thru different vendors you have to update those sites also..I shouldnt have to create new accounts on differents sites that I dont care to visit , just to get what i was supposed to get from my store.

The file is the best one, as while it tells you what to do on the forum, it is actually slightly different in the file download! As far as I know its only available on the Iris site!

Guys I also need some help here, you know the CFTCAS model, isn't there meant to be bombs on it? Mine has none just empty racks, is that right or not?

look here!

I was thought it should have 8 GBU's under the wings!

Please help!

Hi fooks,

No problem regarding FPS for me, so i did not have to reduce resolutions.

Regarding the bombs not showing up, that's odd.

What i did was according the manual. Generate a flight with the CFTCAS bird and all. Saved it and made a short-cut of the FSX executable for the same mission to my desktop. Everytime i launch FSX from that executable i start with the bird loaded with 8 bombs (tried different loads, all worked).
From there i can move to any place or airport. Once there i start a new flight-plan (top left menu button, then flight planner), and off i go....with bombs :ernae:

On another matter....i already showed pics of my try-out fiction RNLAF repaint; this bird now has an Aerosoft brother :engel016::

L-39 thread post 455 and 456 might help "some individuals" to understand Falcons point.
Hard hat and fire retardant suit fully deployed.:running:

Smudge the f-16 looks great and nice job on support in getting a fix out quick.
