Island Hopping Carenado 206

Duckie

SOH-CM-2024
Early WIP of a Taxi Aereo San Martin 206. Still lots to do, like decorate the pants, work on the tricky mapping around the spinner and engine air openings. But, I figure shes cleaned up enough to give y'all a preview. :kilroy:

Beautiful paint, mate!
Seems like the wingtip's CESSNA lettering is mapped better than on the Skywagon.
Luckily enough, the rego is set on the rear fuselage and not on the tailfin...

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks everyone. Your encouraging remarks are very much appreciated. :salute:

Markus: Right you are about the rego. Next challenge is that the base font I used for it is naturally leaning right! :icon_lol:

Next update later on in the weekend!

Thanks again,

Steve

Spectacular repaint Duckie - put me down for one!

IIRC, I think I've come across that problem before; depending on the program you use I think the solution was to introduce a shear effect on a (non-italicised) version of the font, shearing it back to the left.

That would be the "skew" tool in PSP. Just figured that out for myself recently.

WOW, Steve when are ya gonna do one for the FSX group.

Gee Moe, I'm really flattered you that you asked! :redf:

I've never installed X although I've been temped because you guys have it looking really fine. I wouldn't have a clue where to start and with out having it installed I couldn't test. Besides, I barely have time to keep my brush wet in FS9. So, for now, I guess I'll stay on this side of the fence and watch!

Thanks again,

Steve

Those would be the ones..."SKEW" and PSP. :salute:

Hmmm - my PSP GUI is german only, so I don't know about this "SKEW".
What I did to get the rego on my Skywagon lean to the left is to merge the lettering layers and then apply the following:

The angle of distorsion ("Verzerrungswinkel") was adjusted to -27° to match.

Cheers,
Markus.

Hey Markus,

I have PSP V9.1 and I don't think mine has that fancy window but it does the same thing with a simple dottted outline aroung the object, in this case text, to adjust the "skew".

Got it figured out. And getting closer to "done." Still some minor annoyances to get corrected, but close!
