Ito's P-82....is there a FDE set for it?

Has anybody found a suitable replacement prop texture?
I would be very grateful if you would share it.
I spent the whole afternoon trying to work something out, without luck. Given up now...
Cheers!

I have 2 textures for the P-82 prop. One is 66k and forms a yellow ring. The other is 342k and just forms the typical blur but it looks better. I don't remember which texture is the original. But here they are, hope one is suitable for you. Remember to rename them correctly.

Thanks Terry!
Just when I came up with a solution...:jump:
I will try them and make my mind up.
Here's my one:

Thank you..and Thank you. Beta testing time..lol

Update; Terry, you're the winner. Prop2.bmp in your package works the best for me. Thank You!

Hello- I happened to have in my stash a Banana Bob 4-blade prop that works just fine... his readme suggested it would work for P-51s, etc. so I decided to try it... -Mike Z.

Hi,

So far I use now the Stuartcox prop mod

And my contact points for the two models are:

[contact_points]
static_pitch = 0
static_cg_height = 4.75
max_number_of_points = 6

point.0 = 1,-14.790000,0.000000,-2.330000,6153.305130,0,0.625997,48.540000,0.305390,2.500000,0.726310,5,5,0,0,0
point.1 = 1,9.370000,-8.833333,-7.340000,6153.305130,1,0.625997,0.000000,0.407181,2.500000,0.726510,5,5,2,0,0
point.2 = 1,9.370000,8.833333,-7.340000,6153.305130,2,0.625997,0.000000,0.407181,2.500000,0.726510,5,5,3,0,0
point.3 = 2,2.083333,-27.083333,2.083333,2475.912819,0,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0,0,5,0,0
point.4 = 2,2.083333,27.083333,2.083333,2475.912819,0,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0,0,6,0,0
point.5 = 2,11.250000,0.000000,0.000000,2475.912819,0,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0,0,4,0,0

In the next day or two, I will revisit the F-82G sound pack, based on Lawdog's P-40 pack, and see if I can get it "fixed". Will most likely use the sound config file from his P-51 package and swap in the P-40 sound files. That should fix the odd over lapping problems.

Hi

The link to the FDE puts me no-where

Flieger747 could you be so kind to post it here?

Also a nice metal texture version which gets rid of the usual "corner shades*" of Ito-san(No critizism at all I am happy that the plane exists but some paints as well as the usual turboprop FDE leave some room for better appearances)

thanks

Roland

Just a quick note on models made by Ito San. . . .a true metal (polished aluminum), or anything resembling "shiny" metal, isn't really very possible with his models because he doesn't allow for alpha channels to be used, which is normally how you get the shine. When you apply an alpha to his textures, the airplane becomes transparent.

Also, speaking to the "corner shades", if you're speaking of the way he adds shading to the textures to suggest shape and volume, I would agree. I never thought that was very realistic and when I do repaints, I never add any shading, I let the model itself do that on it's own in the sim. I usually concentrate on the other details, like correct insignia placement, panel lines, rivets and so on.

However, if you are talking about the way the various areas of the model are fitted together, that's a model correction that can only be corrected if you have the source code and Ito San is not normally open to releasing his source code to anyone. . .I know, I asked once. :salute:

Haven't seen the P-82B yet (merlin Powered) but here is the F-82G

Here is a solution for the P-82B (It works for me...):

HERE is the P82B file. It does still reside in the library. As LR (Long Range) 2CV (Deux Chevaux, after the french auto, the "two Horse").

Working on replacing the default bare metal texture. Long way to go, but you can at least get an idea from this shot in FSRepaint.

Falcon

I got the feeling that Ito borrowed that panel cfg from someone. I am assuming with permission from the original author.

There are just too many things in it that suggest it is recycled. Starting off with the top section that says "Bf109". After that there are a lot of references to "P51d"

Such as

[Window Titles]
Window00=P-51D
Window01=P-51D

and including calling for "texture=$P51d" in the VC section.

You would think that if he made the panel it would have been P82 not P51d.

My guess is that he just left the VC section in the model and most of the information I can find on it says that it had a VC with out functioning gauges.

I am wondering if he might have borrowed a CFS2 Panel. Which would seem strange given his restrictiveness with porting his planes to CFS2.

Here is another oddity that I noticed

[8 Bit Colors]
PALETTE=PALETTE.BMP

It is a texture in the panel folder. Anyone know what it might be used for?

It is standing alone after the VC section.
