JBK C-54 fuel problem

Hi everyone,

I have a problem, when I fly JBK's C-54 it empties the right main tank first which makes the aircraft unbalanced. Have anyone else noticed this? I have versio 3 of the aicraft and I have modified the panel somewhat.

Any ideas?

I believe that may well have been the way it was in the real world. Look for a fuel selector that will let you choose the other wing. If it's there, then switch back and forth every half hour or so. If not, there may be a way to fiddle with the fuel entries in the cfg...

Hi,

I fiddled around with the fuel section in the cfg. put almost all in one tank that it drains during the flighht and then some 50 gallons in the others so I can start the engines, when I put all in just one tank I couldn't start the engines but now it works. :)

I have been flying the V2.1 DC-4 that showed none of this behaviour. Just installed the V3.0 onto my laptop FS9 and see the following:
  • 4 gauges L/R Aux and L/R main.
  • fuel burn is two aux. tanks evenly ( which is according to default fuel mgmt. -ext. then aux. then mains)
  • no fuel tank switch.

You never said what mods you made to the panel. If you added a fuel tank switch then that may be the culprit. 1) it may not have an "all" position which would allow the default fuel scheme; 2) with many switches, once you make a selection other than "all" you have to continue to manually manage the flows.

If you didn't change fuel- related bits there is another culprit... if, prior to loading the DC-4 you were flying another (your 'default a/c or flight) aircraft with a manual fuel management system (or not set to "all") and then immediately loaded the DC-4 you may be suffering from a 'carry-over' from that previous aircraft. Others can explain why this may happen, but it has bitten me ( the default Mooney is an example of one that has no "all" position and can lead to this.

I have to add that it may be a better idea to try to troubleshoot the problem than to revise an aircraft config ( that actually works) by overloading some 18,000# of fuel into one wing (not to mention the ensuing potential trim issues)
 
Hi,

I had this problem from a fresh install, I have tried it without having loaded it from another aicraft so unsure of why it arrises.

I thought about the problems with the trimming when I load all the fuel into one wing and have corrected the cfg so that the wing is centered :)

But still no real idea why the problem turned up. Strange...
