I flew in a Hastings TG517 from RAF Scampton when I was an air cadet, must be 35 years ago now.

It is now at Newark museum.

I suddenly feel very old!

Richard Wescott,
Why don't you share your Hastings flying experience with us a bit? We will all be interested to know.

It is really sad to think of people with amazing experiences not sharing them and those memories getting lost.

Recently I conversed with a good friend Clarence Wiles who used to work in Alaska on bushplanes in the 1950s. What a rich experience. Clarence told me about flying in a Northwest Boeing 377 from Seattle to Chicago( not sure about the destination). He talked about being amazed in the big two-decker passenger plane.

So Richard, share your experiences please.

Wonderful stuff indeed.....thank you very much!!!

When I was a little lad, my Dad took me to a RAF Battle of Britain Day display at St Athan in Wales and whilst waiting for the car park to lower its volume at the end of the day, I remember going up very close to the barrier and watching a Hastings start up and taxi out for its flight to its home base.

Think that memory will always stay with me. Would be nice to find out which one it was and what was its eventual fate. As far as I can remember it would have been either 1976 or 77.

Best wishes,

Martin

Flying in Jens' backyard

Jens I took your Hastings and made a beautiful landing at Schipol last night using FS Approaches. The aircraft behave flawlessly and it gently kissed the runway at 80 knots. Thank you so much for the aircraft.

So where can we find Jens' Globemaster II?

All I can find is his earlier Globemaster I.

Has the latest one been released yet?
