Good for Travolta. And besides being a all round good guy and one hell of a pilot, he's a dam good humanitarian too.
To TheOptomist..... as "Pilot In Command" he has the right to wear Captains bars, and besides that he owns the 707. His copilot probably wears 2nd Officer bars cause John says he can. If he can't wear them, according to you, then any airline pilot out there hasn't the right to wear theirs. Tell all of them that if you dare...face to face. Then look up at them from the floor. All of them laughing at you all at once will probably knock ya on yer kester.
Laughing at me? No, laughing with me, at this wannabe who flashes his stripes around with no right to do so. I'm not sure whether your last snyde comment was an attempt at a humiliation, but perhaps you could look up the ATPL before you post next time. Travolta has a PPL, and is only (and ever has) been rated as SIC on the 707.
Time out everyone. :isadizzy:
I guess some of us forgot about this....

About 8 years ago, in 2002, Mr. Travolta became the "Global Goodwill Ambassador" for Qantas.
He even went as far as to get his First Officer certificate for a 747, and eventually flew a few routes across the Pacific.
Nope, he just completed the Boeing 747 simulator program. He doesn't have a type rating (nor an ATPL) at all.
He was presented with wings and stripes by the Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon, as he was in fact employed by Qantas to do the multiple city tour.
He's an Quantas ambassador, not a pilot.
The 707 Mr. Travolta owns is a former Qantas bird.
That 707 was repainted in Qantas livery, and Mr. Travolta was Pilot In Command for the entire 13 city tour, at various stops around the world.
Nope, he can't be PIC on the 707.
At the time in 2002, Mr. Travolta had in excess of 5000 hours, both personal and professional flying time.
Mr. Travolta continues to own and fly his 707 to this day.
He has no commercial rating. Unless you want to count 'being on an aircraft when it's in the air' as piloting time.
Oh and he got his license in 1974, using every dime he made to get his commercial rating.
In the lean times between acting jobs, he would be PIC on a private jet for charter jobs.
Nope, he could cost share on the PPL and nothing else.
So, Mr. Travolta has earned his stripes. 'Nuff said. :salute:
Nope, doesn't have an ATPL, isn't an airline captain, hasn't earned his stripes.
