Just Flight DC-10?

:unsure:

Does anyone fly this thing in FS9?

What I'm really interested in is this:

justflight-dc10-collection-fsx-fs2004-17.jpg

A nice KC-10 for FS9. :wiggle:

Thirty bucks sounds like a pretty fair deal with a good sound folder and a VC.
How are the flight dynamics? How about the "hands on"? Do I need a printed manual to get it started and in the air?

I have a KC-10 with Dutch textures (made by Jan Visser)

Text:
RNLAF/KLu repaint of the DC10-30F by SGA.
repaint by JP Visser.

this is conditionware.
this archive is only to be hosted on Avsim.com and Flightsim.com
i do expressly forbid FSPLANET.COM and SURCLARO.COM to host this file.
any other can email me to request permission if they wish this paint on their website.
unless written permission is given,you are not allowed to host it.
all altered textures are (c) JP VISSER/VAA,nobody can use them
without asking me first.
do not make money with this file,
it is free.

now that is out of the way,
i do hope you'll enjoy my paint.

If you want to contact the original author of te KC-10 Jonathan A Stewart (SGA) send me a PM.

to answer your query in short, this is a Commercial Level Simulations (CLS) - Just Flight release package and per the most-up-to-date description of the same at Just Flight https://www.justflight.com/product/dc10-collection-hd-10-to-40 it is admittedly a F-Lite release - description included therein ...so rather easy to start and get in the air, but not necessarily, study-level in the full sense of it ;) and reviews here https://secure.simmarket.com/justflight-dc-10-collection-hd-10-40-fsx-p3d.phtml I assume thus the prior FS2004 version will not be anymore study/procedural than the advertised FSX/P3D HD release. Further, per CLS own webpage https://commerciallevel.com/HOME/ their specialty is LITE, so nowhere near the likes of PSS (Phoenix Simulation Software)

as a tip, I'd contact Just Flight and ask them vis-a-vis a pre-sales query, if they'd be willing to add the previous FS2004 version (no longer on sale anywhere besides simshack) to your Just Flight account, if you were to purchase the HD release directly from Just Flight, currently on sale there for 23 USD, in which case you'd have the FS2004 version as well as the latest upgraded HD FSX/P3D version with all the bells and whistles, all at a slightly discounted price compared to the advertised price and release at simshack

hope the above helps!

cheers!

What about freeware Thomas Ruth KC-10 with WORKING refuel boom and cool VC?

Regards,

Aharon
He's done one for FS2004?* I've got the FSX version, actually a lot of his FSX models, they're definitely a cut above the rest.

* Obviously there is, or you wouldn't have mentioned it. D'oh.

If you have FSX, why not use Thomas Ruth KC-10 especially you said you have many of his planes?? I would not know anything about FS2004 compatibility but few clever people have managed to port FSX planes over to FS2004 (FS9)

I remind you to declare that you are talking about FSX… when you are contributing in FS2004 Theme’s because we’re in an FS2004 Thread here not in an FSX Thread… otherwhise you just confuse people…

Thank you...

I hate to say this, but the CLS collection on Just Flight's website makes no mention of the KC-10 - only various DC-10 models -

As such, it is not clear what the connection is between simshack and Just Flight / CLS - at least to me . . .

To be clear on that:

Justflight Plattform is just the vendor / seller / hoster… but CLS is the Creator of the Addon… so it is still the CLS Model (copyrights are still by CLS)… but sold by JustFlight… It doesn’t mean just because Justflight sells it, that it is a Justflight model…

For example: justflight also hosts the Carenado Models and many other creators Models and / or sceneries… which also doesn’t mean that the Carenado or any other hosted Models are now automaticly Justflight models because justflight sells or hosts them…

indeed that is one aspect I was wary of - no mention of the KC-10

Further to the above remarks by @Airbasil , when you look at the simshack link provided by @Sbob https://www.simshack.net/products/dc-10-collection-fsx-fs2004-908#description you find the description to state that the said package is "Designed by the well-known Commercial Level Simulations..." and of course the publisher is Just Flight, indicated by a blurb at the bottom of the description under About Just Flight

I've not yet figuered on how to lower the boom... maybe with Concorde Nose up and Down Key assignment... or something... as there's no controlls on the flightdeck for that...

View attachment 197509

Its usually your tail hook key assignment, <shift><w> (water rudder) , or concord nose raise/lower.
It obviously works based on the screen shot I used.
So, the short answer seems to be "Sure, buy it". :wiggle:

Are there any repaints out there for this KC-10?

I haven't found any as of yet... only quite a lot available for the Pax version. But none for the KC version. unfortunately... so let's hope, there'll be some painters around still doing some for this model, as it is ab antiquated Model to be honest.

But yah, sure, Buy it! you obviously won't regrett it. Because its still better than nothing with the recommendations i added above.

Its also available at PC Aviator

but be careful and make sure you're getting the FS9 version.

The boom is still fighting me. It "might" be a case of finding the right door to open (<shift><e>, e+2, e+3, e+?).
I have a neat little gauge that controls this kind of stuff. Let me wrench on it a while.

Oops, I missed that part. :confused:
It worked out at about three $ cheaper at "PC A", so I'm not losing any sleep.
It seems to fly well. The doors are a little funky and I'll be adding my "universal door key" gauge to the main panel to see if it helps and if the boom can travel.

Hey Basil, I think I'm on the right trail. :geek:

From the KC10 panel folder-

[Window17]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=152,38
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=0
visible=0

window_size= 0.13, 0.045
window_pos= 0.410, 0.590

gauge14=CLS_DC10_FS9!ICON_VC, 133,0,19,19
gauge15=CLS_DC10_FS9!ICON_WV, 133,19,19,19

Window 17? I have NO bleeping clue how to open Window 17 in FS9. :ROFLMAO:
BUT, I now have some gauges to check out and possibly add to the main [Window 00] section. :wiggle:

It pays to be nosey. :geek: :wiggle::ROFLMAO:

I've got the boom and drogue controls 90% figured out.
From the VC, look at the area just to the right and above the pilot's ball and altimeter:

icons.jpg

You won't be able to see the ICON panel until you push the blank button (follow the crappy red arrow) to the right of the API light.
This will bring up the ICON panel. The two buttons on the right will deploy the drogue. They turn green when you push them.
On the lower left side of the of those green icons, you'll see what looks like a downward-pointing arrow below the headphones icon. That's the boom control.
So, with the two icons set to green, you'll get this:

drogue.jpg

I'm pretty sure the icon on the far right of the top row is the ARM button.
On the right corner of the lower row should be the Boom icon and the Drogue icon.

Notice that this is also how you open and access the GPS.

:wiggle:

Update- Yeah, there's also a small square red mystery button in roughly the same location on the 2D panel. Push that and you'll get an icon panel with a couple more buttons, but basically the same deal.
For the Boom, you need to set all three buttons. The one on the top row kinda "arms" the boom. The second-from-the-right (bottom) lowers it and the third extends the probe. This thing is complicated and I might try some very basic panel.cfg edits. Keep the icon panel open by default, add my GPS, little stuff like that.

Does anyone want to play multiplayer these days? I need a Fighterjet behind, for a “refueling in Progress” Picture :D hahah
Maybe with an F-35 or a B-52 Bomber or so?
