KA-3B Skywarrior

Wow! Sounds like you were really Gung Ho with your models. When I was a Navy brat in Naples ~56, a classmate/friend gave me a Revell Strategic Air Command model set consisting of the B29, B-36, B47 and B52 as a B' day gift.

Like the theme from "All In The Family" says: THOSE WERE THE DAYS! LOL!

Works pretty good in P3D V5.4 except for the smoke trailing on a ground taxi. Maybe I could remove that effect from the effects folder.

I would check what effect that it is and try and remove it. Nice to know that it works in that sim too. Watch this thread for an update to come in a few days.

If I push my "L" (Lights) key the effect will shut off, If I press it again, it activates.
This has got to be one for FSDevelopers not me because that is really weird. My guess is that it is another Prepar3D V5.4 anomoly like what happened with the fountains in my Greensboro-Spartanburg Airport scenery between 4.5 and 5.4. Just "for Giggles" in Prepar3D V5.4 in the key commands reassign all lights on/off to another command and then you can turn it off with the "L" key if you can't get an answer at FSD.

The "Angel" helo is an SH-3B Seaking helo and the other "missing" aircraft I mentioned above - the A1D Skyraider the only prop plane in the mix. There are a number of F4 Phantoms so actually I was wrong, there were THREE missing aircraft not two, so EVERYBODY wins the prize which will be a new repaint for the KA-3B along with the surprise to come which will be added here next week. Gotta wait on something.

I fixed it. When braking to a stop, the nose gear would dip a bit more then usual. I digress from it all.

Awwww...and you could have been the exclusive prize winner. LOL! Probably the same way that I read that photo caption three times and didn't see where they missed mentioning the F4 Phantoms. See, that's what happens when you try and do this stuff in the late hours. Anyway, enjoy the repaint that is coming next week in the surprise package which I will announce in this thread and then add tothe Resources for all to share.

Not in CVW 14 or aboard Connie. They were deployed aboard USS Kittyhawk in 1961 in CVW-11. Click this link first to see all of USS Constellation and then click the link at the bottom which although it says CVW 14 earlier than 1963 it actually takes you to CVW 11. History of CVW14 gives you information from it's inception in 1950 but other info says it was formed at NAS Lemoore, CA in 1963. In either case the HUP-2 was not aboard on having been replaced by the UH-2 Seasprite. However as you can see from this photo, the "Willyfud" E1B AEW of VAW-111 WERE on board in 1963 and 1964 but were replaced in VAW-11 by the E-2A Hawkeye in December 1965, The Skyraiders are A-1H of VA-145. This is borne out by the link below as well.VAW-11-Early-Eleven-06.jpg

Thank you. It was fun creating and learning too.
How did you get rid of the ugly shadows? or splines? on thr front of the engine cowling tops and forward pylon edges in the original FSX conversion?

I am doing an initial repaint for an RA-3B but cannot get rid of those --

My repaints were done with the Alphasim Paintkit which is in PSD's for Photoshop. It has three layers that you can turn off and eliminate them. I did not want an ol' dirty repaint so I turned them all off before saving the texture first as an extended 32bit bmp and then converting that in DXTBMP to DDS DXT-5. Hope this helps.
I had the same reflective shadows on the top of the fuselage.
Check the post I just replied to Mike71. They are layers in the Alphasim Paintkit, again maybe not. I don't know what those are. Here is a topdown screenshot I just did of my VAQ308 KA-3BScreenshot (80).jpg

Just saw your post about doing a VAQ-132 repaint! That was my last duty squadron at NAS Alameda before getting out in February '72 on a 3-month early out program.

In the paint kit there were 3 layers; a shader and 2 stain layers. I deleted all 3 but still seem to have the problem. Will try a little longer. Is it possibly the bump or spec sheets - they are not very discernible - no shapes in either.
