• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Kennedy Space Center Scenery

Impressive. I could not get the tracks to appear under the crawler without a reboot of the sim after downloading the update. The low resolution smoke effects look better to my eyes than the high res ones. Still... it's very cool to watch each launch from different angles and positions. Saturn V rocks!

Good to hear! Yes, looks like there is something off with the crawler - but you are saying that the "reboot of the sim" worked? Restart of the sim, or reboot of your computer? I am asking because a few other users seem to have exactly the same problem, and I am gathering all the info about a possible solution/fix. To be honest, I thought EVERYONE exits and re-enters the sim after downloading new content. If you go straight into using new content after downloading it, in the same session, I would not be surprised that some things may be "off". MSFS "mounts" content into its VFS during startup, so I am not sure how mounting happens during sim in mid-session.

Also, crawler itself is nothing special in terms of complexity. The model is large, around 10Mb, but smaller than a few other objects (Shuttle launch tower, Shuttle rotating structure, SLS rocket, ...) so we don't know why it is presenting problems.

I closed and restarted the sim with a new session. Marketplace allows you to download a product and open in the same session without having to exit. This time that apparently did not work. A simple enough fix to exit the session and launch it again.

Great - thanks for that tip. I will pass it on.

Something regarding VFX: The sprite spatial sorting has a bug, which has persisted for 19 years, ever since the release of old FSX in 2006. Namely, sprites are incorrectly sorted by distance, depending on how they are viewed. If viewed with the emitter location closer to the viewpoint than the sprite, they are sorted correctly. But if viewed with the emitter location farther than the sprite, the farther sprite is rendered in front of the closer sprite.

That is quite unfortunate because it leads to all kinds of weirdness when viewing the launch clouds, or the rocket trail, from different view points, especially if you move around it while viewing it.

Nothing we can do about that one. I posted it on MSFS defect forum, but got zero reaction or response.
