Keroman

Just a few comments...

As you can see in the screenshots, the 'ground' (floating seawall) isn't textured, yet. But, all the bunkers were located on it, except one, Scorff, which it located up the river.

Again, I'm very grateful to Rafael, for his flak guns. Both Keroman I and III have three each, in the blocks mounted on the roofs.

Slowly, I'll add some of the other various buildings to Keroman, to make it all look more as it should. Yes, there is some hit on the fps, considering how much more detail and objects there are. But, I'm attempting to keep it all within reason.

I can't believe it, Keroman will be in CFS3!!!!! :jump:

I'm from Lorient, you can't imagine how happy I am. As the sub pens can't be destroy, there is actually the brand new Eric Tabarly museum, it's a sailing museum.

It will NOT be wall-to-wall accurate, but there will be enough to look at, as far as how it appeared, during the wartime. There is quite a difference on the docks area, from then to now.
If all of it was built into the sim, there would be no fps, or very few. But, I'll get enough to bomb, for some effects.

A little head's-up...it will require two entries into the global layer. One for the basic location, with the docks/seawall. Another for the bunkers/buildings that are 'on' the dock area. No big deal.

One thing I don't like is, since I'm forced to make the seawall as a structure, instead of terrain, it 'appears' like other structures, once your within a given range. I'll test things on it later.

Looking good Ted, but what are you doing your site seeing in?

Hehe. That 'ol evil eye jumps up!

Bv222V-4...or, what's working on it. Last time spent on that bird, I was correcting the turret(s).
(Makes for a nice, slow ride.)

yes, I know and understand, it's always a balance between historical accuracy and flight sim engine + PC hardware limitations.

But, wow, I'm so happy with this news! I'm gonna build a few single missions that occured around Lorient in WWII just for this new faciliy, I've got actually ideas for 8 missions from 1941 to 1945.

Will the heavy flack battery installed on the isle of Groix be included?

With some of the new invasion defences released with ETO V1.20 placed in the area (Fort Bloqué beach for exemple, these bunkers are still in place today) it will be perfect!

thanks again.

Yeah, should be plenty of room for missions. From what I've read, the allies flew around 300 various attacks against Keroman. Also read, once ground forces were moving through France, they moved around Lorient, to avoid the heavily defended area.

Isle of Groix? I'll check on it's location. (It's not the small isle just off the port, is it?) Do you have any details on the flak battery located there?

I have plans to add in (possibly using a separate facility file) the 'defenses' in the Keroman/Lorient area. I've read they used several types of flak units, many of them situated around the outer borders of Lorient...one to two miles out. Also read they had about 800 flak guns at Lorient!

I'm figuring around 30-40, using my own flak facilities, to keep things reasonable.

(Getting ready to build the railyard overpass.)

yep, Groix is the small island just in front of the port.

No, I have no details about it. My Grand Mother, who was at Lorient during the war, told me there was a battery there. I've also read some things about this flack battery in articles about Coastal Command actions in the area.

Lorient was liberated in 1945, German forces stayed there until the end, the city was completely destroyed.

According to the maps, Isle of Groix, is the large island that is 2-3 miles off the main coastline. If you look at the screenie from the air, you can see it near the horizon.

Isle St. Michel is missing, which is the very small island, just off the port entrance. The germans used it as a homing station, for the incoming U-boats, when their radar masts were dis-abled.

One of the 4 gun 88 facilitys will fit nicely on Groix! Should be good to go.

Would be kinda neat, to have a bit more sense, what it was really like to bomb Keroman.

Absolutely, this is the one I was talking about. When I come back home by plane (Airline: Brit Air / Aicraft Type: Fokker 100), it always fly over the isle of Groix and with a goo light, it's absolutely beautifull. In fact, this is the most beautifull apporoach I've ever seen with Huahine (an island in French Polynesia, south pacific) and Bilbao in Spain (I really love the montains and the sea when the aircraft arrive there).

I didn't know that.

perfect!:wiggle:

May we see the B&V222 (WIP) pretty please...

Also-- This has got to be at the top of the list for "stuff left over from the war"... Wot?

Sure. Just keep in mind that it still needs alot of work, yet.

Last time I worked on her, I was building the 'second' main turret, since the first wound-up being the wrong type. Once (lol, and find time for all this!!) I have the turret made, then I can copy it over, for the wing turrets.
Looking at the screenies, you'll see a round part on each wing, just aft of the outboard engines. That's my locators for the wing turrets. Should be a wild ride in one of those.
BTW...the 222 (V4) flies like a brick house...or a real slow boat. Does get on and off the water fairly nicely though.

It looks really GREAT... as a 'wing-ged BOAT it outta make quite a splash... An' I see ya has all six props turnin' merrily away... wuz that a problem? what are they bein' twisted by... BMW 132's?

Yeah, Really Nice:trophy::trophy::trophy:... Lookin' f'ward to it!!:ernae:
