Khalkhin-Gol Incident-USSR

Shadow Wolf I've spotted that the speed in the [misc_data] part of the .dp file for the Ki-10, are in mph instead of km/h, which massively affects how fast the Ki-10 flies between waypoints (and therefore how fast it is flying when you encounter it), and it's ability to fly in formation with other "faster" aircraft. - The mission builder limits the speed based on the [misc_data]. (You can see that it's supposed to be metric, km/h by looking at the stock CFS2 aircraft)
Thank you sir. I have known for some time that the speeds and other data on the .dp are metric. I think I never noted the glitch with the Ki-10 is because I cannot recall using it other than maybe as an inf object. I have altered the .dp accordingly and will upload it and other changes/fixes tomorrow. i plan to replace the package with this and any others I can find between now and tomorrow PM.

see if the attached are of any use - mostly they are just tidying up the hit boxes to get closer to the real geometry, without changing how much damage is caused if the boxes are hit, but also I noticed that a lot of the I-16 models don't have the [MISC_DATA] section, so have chucked something in there, that could probably do with updating a bit even though most people won't actually see it. - I also have the 4 x ShKAS rather than the 2 x 20mm cannon - but that's easy enough to change.

the Natacha was also bit overpowered on the rear gun so I also looked at that, while the Ki-10 was a bit weak in the guns considering it's got the same guns as the Nate. My view is that the "1d1*14" of the 0.50 guns is about right, and that "1d1*6" (or even less!) seems more realistic for the 0.30 size guns, especially when you consider that the smaller bullets decelerate so quickly that they have less than half the kinetic energy after 400m.

Also added bullet weights as these were missing from some

a few extra airfields that might be useful in future, - the base_alt possibly needs to be checked depending on what terrain mesh peopl are using? Especially in this region there are massive differences in elevation compared to the standard CFS2 mesh. Not sure how much this affects the AI aircraft when landing? - (the airfield at Fengtian, CFS2 won't let me take off from at all for some reason!!)

It's a long time since I looked at this conflict, but I recall the Chinggis Khaan airfield was the key/main airfield, back away from the front line, and also where new aircraft flew through.
There is also what looks to me, to clearly have been a runway at the site of the Nomonhan Exhibition Hall (which has loads of BT-7 tanks!), as well as the Arxan/Arxan Yiershi fields which would have been on the Japanese side of the border/front line.

also maybe worth mentioning, that I've tried the older c2nasiawater, and although it's not quite as detailed as the more up to date stuff, it works well enough (without messing up some other things!), and massively improves the shoreline of Lake Buir, so that may be a good install for someone who doesn't want all the hassle of improving the coastlines so much that some of their existing airfields end up in the sea!!

RWILLS: You are building an IJAAF Nomonkan/Khalkhin-Gol campaign, right? Why don't you start a separate tread for it, so we don't confuse everyone? :dizzy: Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your interest and the work you have done for the IJAAF side. :applause::applause:

Yes - I was sort of thinking the same thing - I've basically got the Japanese side sorted for myself a long time ago, but it needs tidying up before it goes on here - also I think it would be good though to make it as compatible as possible with your new Russian campaign, in terms of not having to install loads of extra/different aircraft!!

That is good. :) Compatibility would be great, but I am mainly concerned with repairs or fixes for the USSR version. Additions? Only as required. If you like; I'll test those airbases on my install. Do yovu have scenery .bgls and textures for them?

Thank you for this nice campaign. I installed it,took the campaign and mission files from Xaviers original japanese campaign an installed in yours, Installed the actual ac's, changed the country cfg and installed the jap.uiries, an off we fly!!!. Both jap an russian campaigns in the same install. It might not be the optimal solution, but since I am a "fighterman" I care mainly about the battle itself, not so much about details. In dogfights you can't care too much about the scenery anyway. Great Killer Svend! I hope you enjoy. :applause::applause:

I just uploaded some changes - changes to 4 missions (non essential) and the d/l links to the Global Surface Water packages. I encourage any and all users, who have a problem, to post it here and I'll get right on it. The missions are identified by title ID. Mission titles look like: Khalkhin-Gol_SOV_CA-BaseDef-I-16a where the CA is the title ID. Post that along with your question and I can go directly to the mission(s).

Cheers:

I did have some serious issues with the Ki-30 bomb/weapons load, - which I've sorted for myself with a new .dp
It's possible that since this is an AI plane that the same problems I had, are not noticeable? (CA-BaseDef-I-153b is the mission)

To clarify that - my CFS2 didn't like the weapons/bombs pack that comes with the Ki-30 and I got" failure to initialize" messages - so simply changed the .dp file to allow it to carry equivalent bombs (had to modify the hardpoints as well though to match the substitute bombs). - Not sure though if there is anything wrong with that weapons pack, or if it's just clashing with something else that I already have installed?

I've found that both the I-152 and I-153 give the same problem with the cockpit panel - when I look left/right etc the screen just goes blank/grey, and I have to use Esc, and then close/restart cfs2 in order to get things working again.

Maybe specific aircraft problems/fixes would be better in a seperate thread??, - let me know?

Good day sir: It should not matter as the Ki-30 is AI and a target. However, I see some room for improvement for that mission and will get to it today. Thank you.

No complaints? Good! I hope you all enjoy. I will be posting some screen shots as I blast my way across Mongolia and Manchuria. Cheers...

I decided to fly my own campaign, taking a few screenies as I go. From Mission 3

Flew it again. This time I got 4 :applause:, but lost a good wingman in the process:dejection:. The screenshots are of the same kill. different angles.

Cheers.

I haven't forgotten you all. I am trying to get in a successful mission 6 and get a screenshot or 2. I got shot down behind friendly lines in central Mongolia in mission 5. Fortunately I was rescued by a submarine and returned to fight again :) I was surprised to learn that the Mongolians had submarines as early as 1939. I was lucky I guess...

Anyway, for the next mission we went in low and fast with medium bombers and raised hell...

Then came a follow up mission. We dropped light bombs on and strafed enemy positions and when fighters came up to oppose us, we took care of them.
