Khalkhin-Gol Incident-USSR

I have the new soviet side working, but the rockets are dropping like bombs and I downloaded the Japanese side the IJAAF'S Nomonhan for CFS2 and the missions lockup my Computer. Has anyone got the IJAAF side working? :dizzy::dizzy::pop4:
Marty, my rockets fired. Are you sure you installed the aircraft and weaps pack correctly? Which aircraft are you having problems with? I've never flown or installed the Nomonhan (Japanese side) Incident campaign. I just used parts of it. edit: I just tested each acft with rockets and they all fire as they should, except for the POLIKARPOV_I15_tipo2 1939 (Nomonhan). I notice when fired, the rockets just disappear. hmmm... this is the payload para for the rockets for that plane. Any of you experts see anything wrong? [PAYLOAD.4] ; Payload = Rockets mount.5=wep_pylon_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.6=wep_ic_rs-82, 1, 8 mount.7=wep_pylon_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.8=wep_ic_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.9=wep_pylon_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.10=wep_ic_rs-82, 1, 12 mount.11=wep_pylon_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.12=wep_ic_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.13=wep_pylon_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.14=wep_ic_rs-82, 1, 16 mount.15=wep_pylon_rs-82, 1, -1 mount.16=wep_ic_rs-82, 1, -1

I did, sort of, but I changed a lot of things to suit what I had, and it was on an old computer that is now dead!!. I'll have a fresh look at it though and see if I can help.
Have you got any single mission to work at all?

a few random bits of info for this, some may be helpul, or not

Mission 1, works fine on my computer (it's quite a big file though so you get a warning about the file size in the Mission Builder) but I did change the following aircraft, I have a handful of scenery objects missing from the .gsl file

I4_br20 I changed to the I4br20j

BR2_Sally I changed to BR2 KI21 Sally

IJA_Ki27_NATE I changed to BR2 Ki-27 Nate

If you want to reduce the file/mission size, and see if that hepls, there is a massive amount of stuff/scenery that is incuded but not needed.

Hi Greg,

Thanks very much for this campaign.

Is there meant to be a SCENEDB folder included in the download? There's no sign of Nomonhan Front, Nomonhan Mesh and Bain Tumen - its GSL file is empty.

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Kevin: An oversight. I have attached UT's Bain Tumen zip and included it in the updated version of the downlload. Sorry for any inconvenience. There was no gsl in his pack and I don't remember where I got that 0 kb gsl file from. :dizzy: but... I did add a large amount of additional infrastructure to UT's layout (which is visible to me) to flesh-out the layout itch

The nomonhan mesh and scenery are in the Nomonhan download, listed in the downloads list as - East Asia WWII Runways Scenery Full Consolidated Package by Xavier Berdaguer at: http://www.simviation.com/cfs2scenery17.htm . If that doesn't provide wha you need then: I have included for further reference (and confusion :wiggle:) xavierb's Nomonhan download and fixes within my updated download. Be sure to use the airbases.dat file that i provided in the download's INFO folder. The update contains some new, "fixed" .cfg and .dp files as well.

The B24 Guy: Here is the .dp file you requested. :wavey: Do you think the disappearing rockets issue can be fixed?

Hi All,
The ver2 DP is better but it still has a problem.
gunstation.0 is guns only I think. My language skills are limited. It seems OK.
gunstation.1 should be bombs but it is the same as gunstation.0.
guns.0 and guns.1 are also the same.
The guns each have 400 rounds. I don't think that the bombs have 400 rounds.

Regards,
B24Guy

Just tried it out: The rockets fire as they should, it as 400 rds per gun (1600) and when set up with 4 bombs, the HUD shows 4; dropped it displays 0 bombs.

Thanks Greg, I was using your first edition.

Xavier's Nomonhan download also has a larger Nomonhan GSL file than the one in his East Asia pack.

Marty

I've had a fresh look at the old Nomonhan/Japanese missions. The size of each mssion is large which may affect things depending on how good your computer is, so suggest that initially you try the missions without installing the .gsl file. Also though, I found some usual problems with aircraft trying to land somewhere else, you can change each aircraft to "land anywhere" by opening each mission file and changing the final waypoint from 4 to 4096, for each aircraft unit. In theory you can do this in the mission editor, but it's not very robust and will just crash if everything is not perfect when you try to save the mission!

If you haven't done it before, when you open the mission file in a text editor, as you scroll down, you will see something like this, for each "formation";

[waypoint_path.xx]
id=xxxx
waypoint.0=1, etc
waypoint.x=
where the final waypoint is

waypoint.x=4,etc

just change that to

waypoint.x=4096,etc

Several of the missions also have numerous aircraft flying around a long way from where you are ever likely to be, so are almost irrelevant and could be deleted to reduce the mission size.

My campaign doesn't use the Japanese side. Sometime in the future I may re-do xavierb's version.

Kevin: Did you get the Bain Tumen airbase files okay?

site is gone with the wind

FYI - I found a Russian skin for the older/earlier SB2 model, before the rear turret was introduced, and slower, with different engines/radiators.

Russian skin for Spanish Civil War SB2-100 (pre-turret)
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforu...nameid=&sort=d&page=1&pp=20&keyid=450&doit=Go

SB2-100 without turret (Spanish Civil War skin)

The Gavilan site is gone is it possible that someone has the aircraft where I can get a copy? to use the skin. :dizzy::dizzy::pop4:

I'm pretty sure I used only the mk_SB-2M-103 by Morton, mostly for it's range at speed. The skin of his 'Karelia1940' model pretty well matches the paint of the SB2s used at Khalkhin Gol too :) I did not use the SB2-100.

Thanks I Got It
