Kodiak Released

bushpilot, may i request a Repaint in CDF-Colors or Conair-Conair or another Aerial-Firefighting Operator ? I think the Quest will be a great Lead-Plane for the Fire-Cats. It can also used for the Transport of Smokejumpers.

Hi do you have any photos or links to these schemes? If I can find some good reference material, logos and such I'm happy to do them...

I love that font. They used it on Lotus Esprit and Range Rover early car dash boards.. :) Looks very modern, yet clean cut.
Bill

Ok, thanks for the info... It is modern and clean cut, just like Kodiak:mixedsmi:.

Hello bushpilot - you can find infos and photos here :www.conair.ca and here www.fire.ca.gov look under Protection - Air Program

Many thanks for your efforts

Thanks, I'm on it (Conair that is). So do you like your paints dirty(or in this case smoky:icon_lol:)?

I have a weak spot for firefighting aircraft. Dromader waterbomber is one of my favorite airplanes...

Yeah - please dirty - or better "smoky" ! That will be great :applause: I am working on a new Civi-Paint-Package for the ND MD500 - also this time "dirty" to let them look worn and used.

I like the Dromader also a lot - hope that Piglet make it sometime native for FSX SP2

Looking forward to your artwork - :wavey: Dirk

Prop RPM

JPMouse, do you happen to run 64-bit Vista? I am using Build 2.2 but still have this prop RPM issue, i.e. reducing prop RPM does not result in a lower RPM (it stays constant).

Sounds like it's not a Vista 64 problem as I have XP. The spoolup time fix listed on the homepage helps a little

Hey guys,

Concerning props: Prop RPM operates properly on my own and mine went out on the installers and worked with testing and all.

The only thing I can think of is that you have the same 'aircraft.cfg' in yours from Build 2.1 and earlier. Perhaps vista didnt let you overwrite the config file?

Try deleting the Kodiaks and run the installer again and this time it will be a pure install. Your props should then operate properly.

Remember, you can see which version you have by opening the aircraft config file (with Notepad) and reading the 3rd line down. It should say Build 2.2.

Here's Conair WIP

"Fire Boss" is actually AirTractor firebomber...

Now I have three WIP paints, when I'm done with them, I upload them in a row:running:.

Hi Bill,

I did check mine and can confirm it is Build 2.2 from the aircraft.cfg, which is the one and only version I installed since I bought it only recently. I applied the spool up time fix as well, but that didn't make much of a difference to the prop RPM issue. After the spool time change the prop RPM lever "seems" to work on the ground but after I take off it stays fixed at about 1900-2000 RPM. Any ideas?

One thing I have noticed is that after the spool time adjustment, descending on high idle would give more power than I need and the plane would overspeed, even at 700 ft/min descent rate (there seems to be too much power). Without the adjustment (reverting back to 0.009 flow scalar) I am able to descend on high idle without overspeeding. I am actually liking the plane without the spool time fix since it gives me more manageable power settings.

Thanks.

Ponti

And I'm off to haul some cargo in Alaska:running:....

Handles narsty strips like Lukla with admirable lack of effort... flying like a champ where many won't run at all!
Loving this plane!

Thank you all for the compliments!

For some good scenery in Alaska, try Bill Lyons and Tom Constantines 'McCarthy' scenery pack from AVSIM. Brilliant airfields. They are slightly dated, but still one of my faves. The cabins, cars, static planes, buildings, airstrips are just too cool.
Bill

Does someone know where one could obtain this scenery package now that AVSIM has melted? I currently use Chris Carrel's Snow Dog Tours scenery, which is excellent, but would like to get some new strips to fly in.
