Kodiak Released

The cfg entry and shots are from FS9, should work in X though.

Jamie,

Thanks for posting that. Great shots as well. Those landing lights they do are just brilliant!! Almost a must..

VCN-1,

Awesome job on the exhaust trails!

Let me know if you upload it to a site and I can let people know on my website that you have them available for download.

This is the coordinates I used for the right side for the exhaust trail.

smoke.1 = 9.44, 2.55, 0.75, .........

Is it close to the correct location?

VCN-1

Hey VCN-1,

Locations found with Light coordinates. I 'think' Effects are in a different X,Y,Z order. Lights are in Z,X,Y order.

light.12 = 3, 8.00, -2.28, -0.50, fx_navred
light.13 = 3, 8.00, 2.28, -0.50, fx_navred

This places the positions just into the turbine stacks, dead center.

Bill, Avsim did a review of the Kodiak and it was posted yesterday on their homepage, complete with a link to the Quest Kodiak 2.0. Very nicely done too.

Scroll down and you'll see it here...... http://www.avsim.com/

Congrats Bill! :applause:

Lionheart.....I'm becoming a pest but.....can't get her installed.
When I run the install the only botton I have is to reinstall.
The email I have, the account password I do not. My name does not work.
Thanks
Bob

This an image of a very light exhaust trail that turns on and off via custom gauge.

Great work VCN-1!

Are you pretty familiar with making Effects and gauges? like lets say prop wash dust kickup gauges, water mist for a sea plane?

If so, I would like to talk further with you on this.

I wish I could help you but my knowledge is minimal at best.

The two gauges I use for the flap vortices and smoke gauge are very simple one line gauges.

The flap vortices turns on when the flaps are full down and your IAS is greater than 55 knots. This allows effect to to be turned off automatically after landing and you are decelerating through 55 knots.

The smoke gauge just turns on the smoke system effect when IAS is greater than 20 knots, the 20 knots was just an arbitrary speed I chose.

I think making an effect is harder, I have a made a few custom smoke effects for my personal use and I thought it was complicated.

I wouldn't at this point have an idea how to do props wash to show up on dirt strips and water only. Turning on the gauge can be done by RPM but having it display the proper effect to me is the challenge.

I can go look at the SDK and see if I learn anything new.

Roger that on the gauges.

Effects are very difficult to make. When done right though, they can be as popular and reaslitic as the famed Lewis Lights at A2A.

I had started creation of a dust effect based on the FSX snow effect, where prop wash comes into play when you rev up the engine (which ever bird) in FSX. The effect is both 2D (ground) and 3D (kicks up under the prop, increases like a cone passing the tail, then begins trailing off). This would be cool in dirt colors, and again for ocean spray/water spray for float planes.

I couldnt get my gauge to work in both FSX and FS9 for the dirt effect (based on speed and type of ground you are contacting). Works in FSX.

Some cool things you can do, but not alot of people that know how to make them.

:banghead:

Lionheart....one last time. How do I contact Simmarket support?
I use the name Kodiak and they say they never heard of it.
They gave me a new password. Then the credit card was not excepted.
It said I live in Germany. I try to change things right but get in a deeper hole.
Thanks again
Bob

Hi Bob,

I gave you exact links and keys to the Flight1 package.

Are you by chance not getting my emails?

Is your email; waco 'at' charter 'dot' net

You could not have previously purchased the Kodiak from SimMarket as they never sold it there before. Only at Flight1.

Let me know.

Got her last night. FUN AIRCRAFT! Best one to date! A lot less issues with the Garmin than on previous releases. I saw no major problems that weren't already mentioned (flap switch).

Bill, you outdid yourself. This is DAMN fun to fly!

Thanks Cody.

We will be upgrading the screens over to the Epic next, with personal adjustments that accomodate that particular aircraft, (airspeed, prop torque, etc).

Hopefully the Kodiak updates (Build 2.1) will be out tomorrow. :d
