LeVier Cosmic Wind by Rob Richardson 6apr

A real beauty...have yet to fly it but thanks to Rob Richardson for another excellent aircraft. One note to those who may consider taking it to P3D....it does not work in P3D_V2.0. For some reason it continually forces the sim to close, lol. Also it won't start...the aircraft rocks as though the prop is cranking but the prop never moves. When I say it forces the sim to close, what I mean is after sitting for a minute or so the close menu for P3D will pop up asking if you want to close the flight or resume. If you resume, it will repeat the popup again in less than a minute. . .so there's very little you can do other than admire how gorgeous the airplane is. All animation works, switches work, but it's not going to fly.

Great stuff!:applause:

Thank you Rob for such a superb recreation of one of my favorite aircraft, and Peter for the excellent repaints of my favorite variants of the design.

I have the same exact issue in FSX.

Nope, perfect in FSX. I'm surprised you have the problem in FSX. . .strange. . .I kinda expect this sort of thing from P3D, lol.

And another person with the same in FSX(+AccPack): the plane loads, but nothing seems to start the prop spinning, and after a minute or so, the End Flight screen comes up just as if I had pushed the Escape key, without my having done anything.

I use the default air trike to load.

I thought at first it might be a load issue, so I tried loading a different plane at a different airport, and swapping out, but nothing seemed to work, and the End Flight screen still kept coming up after a minute or so once I swapped out.

I did try swapping out in mid air with the Aerosoft Bushawk (the first plane I had at hand to take off in), and that seemed to work, the Cosnic Wind loaded in the air with the prop spinning, but here was no power to it, and it fell out of the sky before I could mess around with the controls or engine pop-ups to see if I could get power (the throttle was 100%).

I've also tried downloading twice with the same results.

Really nice VC though! Oh well, these things happen in FSX, hopefully there's a fix.

Thanks - Rob

Yea, I went back after defragging and then rebooting the system to try again in P3D_V2. . .but no joy. In FSX it's fine. . .but there are enough folks getting this same scenario that there's something amiss. Hopefully Rob can figure it out.

Not seen this problem myself and I have it running OK in FSX and P3D.2.
I'll try to figure it out!

Where did you find the download link?

Been looking at the RAF site and cannot see a download link for the aircraft. I have looked in all the sections but no joy. Can someone tell me where to find the link please.

Thanks

I have also re-compiled the model using the FSX acceleration SDK rather than the P3D version and have posted the new model with all the mods on my site.
Please let me know how you get on

RobR

PS If you download the model again don't forget to refresh your browser, look for Cosmic Wind "V2"

Thanks Rob. After downloading the new version, in P3D, it continues to do the same things. Even with the Cessna as the startup aircraft (it's running on startup), if I change to the Cosmic Wind it is shutdown, chocks in place, no pilot. If I don't touch the airplane, every 15secs the popup asking if I wish to close the sim, resume, etc comes up. That's exactly every 15secs. and it would continue that for as long as I keep the sim open it appears. If I try to start her up, the airplane rocks side to side as I assume it would during startup, but the prop never moves, the chocks remain and no pilot.

In FSX, no problems.

That's a bit of a mystery!
It runs in both sims just fine for me.
I wonder if there is some sort of conflict going on.
I've even tried it on my wife's computer (she doesn't Know I've installed FSX !!!) and its OK on that.
If I could replicate the problem I could maybe do something about it!

Yea, I was really surprised to find that folks in FSX had the same problem. I expect this kinda stuff with P3D right now. I'm running P3D_V2.0. I had 2.1 with the hotfix, but I was having more trouble with that than the barebones 2.0 so I went back to it. Ver. 2.2 is supposed to be released today, it may correct what's ailing the airplane in P3D. . .for now she flies great in FSX for me. Thanks for looking into it for us.

Ok. . .got it to work, and here's how. I made a startup default flight with the Alabeo Extra300. Have it running, all systems on, pilot in place. I then saved it and reloaded P3D with that flight, then switched to the Cosmic Wind. The aircraft is running, pilot in place, chocks gone. There hasn't been any sign of the popup "close flight" window. I figured since the Extra300 is a similar aircraft, similar systems and speed, maybe it's close enough to force a correction is whatever it was ailed the Cosmic Wind. . .apparently it worked.
