Lionheart Dynamic Nav ID

Had something strange happen during a flight in the RG Dynamic. I could hear the Nav1 frequency at a higher pitch than normal with the selector for the beacon ID = 0. If I toggled the selector to ID=1, I would hear the beacon at the higher pitch and the normal pitch but not simultaneously. Using the keypad, Ctrl - 1 would toggle the normal pitched ID off but the mystery ID sound remained. OK, so I figure, I must have loaded the Dynamic following another aircraft instead of loading from the FSX default.

So I loaded the Dynamic from the default, with the same radio frequencies set. I made a flight to an airport 30 miles away and the ID identifier operated the way it should, both from the keyboard and from the panel button (ID=0, ID=1 and ID=2) with no mystery ID sound. Landed and saved the flight thinking I'd solved the problem. Nope! When I loaded the aircraft tonight and took off for a return flight to my homebase, as soon as I reached an altitude high enough to detect the VOR, I now hear the mystery, higher pitched, VOR morse Identifier. Again the problem. I cannot think of why that would occur and certainly cannot figure out why even the keyboard command will not turn it off. Very puzzling??? I thought it might be an ADF signal but, 1) It would not be the same Morse signal, 2) there is no ADF in the Dynamic, and 3) It would not turn off with the keyboard toggle command (Ctrl - 5)

Any theories? I'm flummoxed.

The only clue is that the ID signal is not at the normal pitch, but where it is coming from, I have no idea. Also it does not occur on a "virgin flight". It only occurs on a reload of a subsequently saved flight. I hate mysteries as I am an engineer, but I truly LOVE this aircraft. (35 hours so far):kilroy:

The DME morse id is a slightly higher pitched version of the same id being sent for the VOR...

Load the default C172 and check the intercom controls to see if DME audio is enabled.

That would be cool if I had the ability to change the pitch of the frequencies. That is, if I am correct, a hard wired sound, or system sound. I do not know how a person could rig it to change. Opens the mind up to possibilities though.

Bill, it is indeed "hard wired" into the sim's logic tree. I ran into this same thing a few weeks ago when I was working on the T-38A's radio section, adding push/pull to knobs to turn on/off the morse ID sound...

...even though I knew I had Nav1 and Nav2 IDs shut off, I still heard the darn morse ID!

After swearing for a few moments, it suddenly dawned on me that I typically have left DME ID enabled...

Sure enough, once I loaded another a/c with a full audio panel, that was it! :redf:

DME ID was right on!

I had been using the ultralight as my default aircraft. Although I cannot see it, apparently the DME beacon is toggled on in that aircraft even though it has no controls for it. I loaded the C172, checked that the All ID's were toggled off, and saved it as my default aircraft. I then rebooted FSX, loaded the C172 and then the Dynamic RG and, of course the ID sound was gone. Thanks for all the great support. You guys rock, as do most good flightsimmers. I'm proud to have been a flight simmer since 1982. My puter back then was a Sinclair with 16 KB of memory. My how things have changed, however, it was just as much fun back then. Havin' fun, is ...well.....just havin' fun. LOL

Thanks again!:salute:

Bill, I remember in FS9, someone had a program that not only changed the ATC sound, but also gave a much more realistic Morse code sound. Sorry I can't remember it, but maybe you could find it and contact it's developer.
