Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Looking for Airport Info

falcon409

SOH-CM-2026
I discovered a satellite image I had captured for another airport but never went any further with it. Robertson Field in Hibbing, Minnesota. It's about 50nm NW of Duluth and Lake Superior. Other than what I can glean from the satellite image there seems to be very little, if anything available to give me an idea of what it looks like at ground level. Maybe that's why I never did anything with it. If anyone has info, or lives close to the airport, let me know. Thanks!

Mackinac Island (KMCD) is also very nice, and near Bois Blanc. Reminds me a bit of Nantucket region, (especially the FBO and Grand Hotel).
These little airports by the Lakes all look very nice. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

I too recommend looking at KMCD. The FSX default area has the big suspension bridge and some buildings rendered in the town. There is also a freeware airport on the mainland just south of the island that I recall being outstanding, but I'll have to search to find it. Give me a couple of days.

The airport I cited above is KPLN in Pellston MI. The scenery had street traffic and very nicely rendered buildings and surrounding area. It might be an FS9 scenery, however.Edit: KPLN scenery was done for fs9, titled KPLN_2004. It is available at Avsim if it can be made to work in FSX.

Since You Brought It Up

Since KPLN has been suggested, Ed and I talked about this beautiful airport yesterday but he is working on another airport so I have tackled it with ALL custom buildings because neither the FS9 nor the FSX have any. They both use generic buildings which just does not do justice to the airport. Its probably going to be almost as much a challenge as KASH Nashua-Boire was but I love a challenge. Especially when it means learning more about sketchup. Here is a
photo from Google of the main terminal and two of what I am calling a bus stop, there are 3 of them left, right and in front of the terminal which is the one in this photo: The hardest part was the two downspouts. I learned how to make cedar logs which is why I tackled this first.

This is the last post for Pellston

I am not going to hijack Ed's thread. I will start a brand new one with progress updates as it comes along.

Correction To My Last

In order to find the beautiful scenery created by Matthias Rauh who also is part of Alpha India Group designers you have to look for "Pellston Regional Airport Michigan" NOT KPLN in AVSIM which only gives you the AIG AFCAD and the FSX KPLN which uses all FSX buildings nothing custom which is how I made the mistake I wrote above. Sorry for the boo boo. It includes the custom terminal and all the buildings plus an excellent readme in both text and PDF to install everything including the highway traffic on MI Hwy 31 right in front of the airport. I am looking forward to installing it in my FSX. Since its FS2004 not sure how it will work in P3D's. Boy this is going to save me a ton of work if its as complete as Matthias says it is.

Pellston Update

Matthias must have had one dynamite computer back in the day this was designed. I just installed it and it is positively gorgeous but unless you have an awful powerful computer...I was only getting 5-6 fps with BOB. I am not going to be able to fly in/out with an aircraft on my computer which is really not a slouch. I can get double digits at KMBL or KMYR both my design or even KASH-Boire with the photoreal scenery and all. I am really disappointed too. Anybody else download and install it don't take up Ed's thread. PM me and let me know how you do. That is my last post on here until I comment on the scenery he decides to do.
