Lower back pain

goats are worse...

anyway I agree with you that chiropractors and physiotherapists offer the best chance of recovery.
Much Much worse....

This is quite a 'sore' subject for me at the moment, if you excuse the pun... :D Just so annoyed that I fell on Sunday undoing a lot of the good progress! I'm just glad I had body armour on, the back plate took a lot of the force of the impact on the stairs. Coulda been worse eh?

if you look at my xrays closely, you will see a few of those titanium ( yes thats right) screws are broken, and the reason they are broken is due directly to a over zelous pyshical theripist who said to me,,,i know more about your spine than you or your doctor do,and he refused to look at my xrays,,those screws were an experimental surgery, hadnt been done to that time,i was stupid and went along with what the PT said, and now im 99.99% disabled for life and when i asked my friend at the distric attorneys office what i could do?...he said sorry,he (the PT) is protected...

Wow, really to bad, Daveroo.
I would have immediately said, "Thanks, but no thanks!" I don't let any PT?Chiro touch me until we both have seen the xrays, and he can show me the out of position disk/vertebra. And then he explains clearly what we are going to do.

Three years ago I had a Laminectomy for sciatica that worked quite well. For THAT problem. Main problem now is the lower back where this discs L1 and L2 have completely dissolved and arthritis has taken over. Not much I can do except for meds. I take Tramadol daily and, once a week for a "vacation" 50 mg of Percocette to enjoy the day. I take the industrial strength stuff once or twice a week to avoid addiction. Not the best solution, but it allows me to function.

Good luck on your back, Moe. It ain't fun.

Thats what the chiro did before he treated me. Xrays first, then explained what he would do. We discussed everything first.

Daveroo, what a shocker. Darn it.

Funny, no one has mentioned acupuncture yet - my son undergoes a session every other week. I can't have it because I take warfarin.
Good luck

I had some Xrays and a MRI, last week and Monday they called me in on the results. It seems I have a nerve being slightly crushed at vertebral 29 and 32 I also have a slight curve in my spinal cord which I already knew about the curve. The surgeon told me it would be a 50/50 chance of fixing the spinal cord and removing of the nerve. Sometimes it works and other times it makes it worse, it would be up to me if I wanted to take if and further. This injury came from just a simple twisted the wrong way...lol. The doc has me on steroids,500mg of vicodin, muscle relaxer and 500mg Ibuprofen, one large back patch and a large ice pack. It seems to be working so far.

First, let me say that getting medical or legal advice in a forum really isn't the best thing to do.

I've heard very good things about inversion tables. They might take pressure off the damaged area. Ice also works wonders as it reduces swelling. Usually swelling causes the pain. A combination of inversion and icing seems to work in some cases, and it doesn't involve drugs or manipulation or surgery. Also, taking a B-100 multivitamin twice a day will help alieviate nerve pain. A B vitamin is more of a food than a drug. B vitamins are water soluble, which is why twice a day. None of these thing should hurt your back.

And walking is usually the best thing you can do for your back. It's a gentle exercise you can increase a bit each day, as you can tolerate it.

I had chronic back pain brought on by 25years of building houses. One of the Chippies I worked with had had a bad car smash, and he, after being given up on by doctors, went to an Osteopath. 5 sessions with him and he was great to work. I went to this same guy and after just the one session, I was feeling great. Every 6 months after that, I'd go see him if the back was playing up.
Worked for me.
Not for every condition though......

the only thing I've heard about inversion tables is the increase in stroke risk...............you better be on aspirin or some other blood thinner.
