Luft'42

Thanks Tom. well I'm running W10, and spec dds works fine,on the models, it's bit more subtle than the old XP speculative shine but it's there, if that is what you meant?

The specular shine with the new shaders is heavily dependant on the settings in the d3d8.ini - if I remember correctly it comes stock with EnvReflection=5 and Glossiness=1 which give quite noticably less shine than the "normal" XP version. I once tested it and found that Glossiness=2 still shines slightly less Glossiness=3 slightly more.

There are example images of how the different values work included for use with Section 8 of the developer notes in AnKor's Shader package I uploaded. In addition to the reflection map texture file, there is a also a glossiness parameter in each aircraft's m3d file that controls how sharply the specular highlights form. This is useful for the new model developer if they want to publish multiple stand alone versions with different finishes (painted, aluminum, weathered, polished, etc.) With the right combination you can even create a model that has flat weathered paint with bright shiny exposed aluminum patches.

The default settings for this package are EnvReflection=5 and Glossiness=1 to provide a moderate amount of enviromental color to be displayed on a surface with diffused specular effects. This is done for compatibility with most of the stock painted or weathered aluminum aircraft finishes.

Example image files are included in this package to demonstrate the changes that can be effected by changing the EnvReflection and Glossiness parameters in the d3d8.ini file. The naming convention is:
Aluminum or Painted finish - Modified, Default, or Original model files - Environmental Reflection intensity level - Glossiness value

If adjusting these two parameters does not achieve the desired look it may be that the model fies themselves will need to be modified.

I've been busy working on the damage effects, blowing all kinds of holes in Steve and John's masterpiece. Click for full size.

Thought I'd show some more pit shots as we are getting close to the final stages now!

Magic! Another terrific skin :applause:. I am really enjoying MAW at the moment, just made up a combined MAW + AvHistory effects.xml using xml sorter and an XML editor.
