    Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

    You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

    If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

    To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

Making the GPS larger....

Hi,
I know about 'stretching' the Windows with the mouse while in FS9, but I'm wondering how to make the Window slightly larger permanently.

For instance this is how it goes at present..This is Windows 8 and I run FS9 in Windowed mode which means that sometimes the pop-up windows for the GPS etc come with a panel round them, although I think that depends which View you start in!

So, in the panel cfg I have made the Window bigger to get a larger GPS permanently, but only the panel is made larger and the GPS bmp stays it's original size in that Window. Is this confusing? Do I need to open the fs9GPS cab file to make the

image bigger or is there another/simpler/correct way to do it?

thank you for your patience.
Andy.

In the panel.cfg, you need also to increase the last two sets of digits after the 'gauge00=.........' The first two are probably 0,0,

It's not quite that simple, unfortunately.

If you open the panel.cfg in notepad, and look for the GPS window entry - you'll see something like this:
//-------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Window02] (default B737)
size_mm=456,378
window_size=0.5
position=8
BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0
VISIBLE=0
ident=GPS_PANEL

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0
//-------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this example, the 'last two' numbers are missing. In this circumstance, the values taken are those from the 'size_mm' entry - in this case 456 x 378.
If you want a bigger window, just increase these values.

Be aware, though, that there's a size ratio to be taken into account.

Hi,

Thanks for your assistance.

The Cessna 172 has a much larger GPS as standard.. as I saw when I looked !! and the clue is that 'window_size=', which as Henk pointed out is a ratio, which is a word normally above my pay grade, but this time with the assists it got sorted.
Thanks again.

//---------------------------------
[Window02]
size_mm=456,378
window_size=0.380 ******** or whatever size you like.
position=8
BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0
VISIBLE=0
ident=10005

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0

Hi,

I didn't see your response there Dave until after I'd posted my previous one, but that seems to be OK now, so Thank you to you all.

Window size=0.5 the GPS will be twice the size of the .bmp it's made from, window size= 1.000 the GPS will be the same size as the .bmp it's made from etc etc !

Andy.
