Manfred's Douglas C-47 Reloaded (Beta)

I'll be uploading this one to AussieX shortly - after I've had a chance to double-check/debug it:

Great work my friend! Looking forward to flying this one. It would be great if you could do the older livery (early-mid 2000s) as well to go with it.

Cheers,

Ade

Hi Adrian - great to hear from you!

The problem I found is that this DAK has undergone a fair few transformations over the years and it's hard to say, when digging around the photo "archives" which livery is which. I'll be going to Ardmore in a week or two so will collar a few NZWarbirds afficionados and try to work out what's what. Hopefully I'll be able to crawl around ZK-DAK while I'm there!

BTW - the file on AussieX now is an updated one - with a few glitches/tweaks added.

Adam

EDIT: Just to say a *huge* thank you to all concerned with this amazing aircraft. When you spend hours poring over rivets when repainting, you get a good idea of the quality of what you're working with. The detail in this DC-3/C-47 is simply staggering. I can't imagine how much work (and how many hours) went into creating the 3D model etc. for me to simply throw a coat of paint over. I enjoyed doing the repaint (it's such a gorgeous plane to look at) and I'm sure I'll spend many an hour now just *flying it*.

Likewise Adam!

I took the old girl up on my usual proving flight from Ardmore, out and over Waiheke Island, over Rangitoto Island into the harbour and over the bridge, then after a quick touch and go at Whenuapai out over Kumeu and back down the west coast. Thanks again for the great repaint, she really looks the part!

I know what you mean about DAK's former colours. I have three variants of that livery in FS9, at least. I do have a lot of pictures of her from Wings Over Wairarapa in January 2005 which you're welcome to if they would help.

Hope you have a good day at Ardmore and get to see DAK up close. We'll have to go next time I'm down there. Saw the Cat parked up in the NZ Warbirds area last time I was there.

I can only echo these sentiments. This is by far the best DC-3 ever created and I'm finding I now never fly my payware versions. Thanks also to all the repainters who have produced so many outstanding liveries which really add to the overall package.

I think I may let this version of ZK-DAK settle down a bit (and grab some more material on my next trip to Ardmore). I tweaked the specular textures a bit to get the bare metal to look a bit better, so you may want to grab version3:

The Catalina has been having some sort of a refit for a while now - but is due back in the sky soon(ish).

Last revision - I promise!!!

I've managed to get a much better bare metal finish (for v4) and made the odd correction:

Same AussieX link as before.

and here's the latest:

Thanks so much, I'm flying the MATS today and having a great time!! Would you be any closer to doing the Ozark Airlines livery? Would be great to do some screenshots of her flying by the Gateway Arch here in St. Louis!:adoration:

Wow! Jan - you're a paint *factory*!!! I love the detail around the cowls. Haven't seen that before!

Adam.

Any interest in this one?

Dakota Norway (http://dakotanorway.no/) as painted for the 2013 season.

Not the correct model for the paint, and there are a couple of minor issues due to the mapping, but if there is any interest, I'll get it finished off and uploaded.

Thanks guys, I think I need to read the readme file to discover the story behind these repaints

Cheers,
