MASH 4077 scenery

MASH is uploaded...

...I've just uploaded the file. I didn't get any error messages so I guess it will be available as soon as the upload moderator approves it.

Here's a screen shot for the young man who wanted to see the Bell H-13 coming into the heli pad. It's in Korea; not, Malibu, California.

My very first scenery release...

..OK fellas, remember that this is my very first scenery released. Please be nice and remember what yo granny taught you: "If you can't find something nice to say, just don't say:stop: anything." I am a very sensitive:icon_lol: guy.

Now I sure hope that those 55 gal drum have av gas in them so I can get the heck out of here.:running:

UPDATE: I just checked and it is now in the FSX Scenery download section.

Nice, very nice! :applause:

I took the nickel tour, and had a blast reminiscing about some of my favorite scenes.

Trying to be gentle here. I did seem to be missing the MASH 4077 sign. Tried another D/L. No dice.
I did the add libraries thing in ADE, and have 4 "Unknowns". No biggie, but, thought this may help you figger it out, if you are inclined to fix it...

Hey Hotlips, Thanks for the mammaries...Don

Don, you shouldn't be missing anything as all the objects and textures for everything but the default FSX scenery objects are included in the zip.
It should work just by placing the whole unzipped folder in your main add-on folder and then activate it from the library screen when you first open FSX.
You don't have to use ADEX at all. From the screen shot it looks like the camp sign, latrine, officer's club and bulletin board are AWOL.

I'll download it later today and see if for some reason the zip got corrupted somehow.

RD

Don, I just downloaded the zip, deleted the install on my computer and did a complete new install using the downloaded zip. Everything is where it is supposed to be. I don't have a clue as to why you are having difficulties.

May I suggest you delete everything and start from scratch. Just unzip the file and place it in your main add-on scenery folder. Then activate it the usual way when you start FSX. Again, you don't need to do anything with ADEX.

RD

That sounds like a plan. I'm looking forward to some WIP screen shots along:running: the way. Speaking of screen shots, it looks like the lights are on in the medical building and mess tent. Must have got a bunch of causalties late in the day.

Good deal....Great to see M.a.S.H. Coming along so well.....
I will post some screens tonight of the airport....With all the Buildings that have to go in, espically with the other camps, around it....The camps will be a separate addon, to keep the file sixe down...

I have had that same problem with some sceneries.....Did the same thing and all was their....

Trucker17, here's a screen shot of a great static Bell H-13 that Roger-Wilco sent me for possible use with the MASH scenery. I chose not to use it as there are only two helipads at the camp site and the helicopters didn't tarry very long there. They dropped off the patients and left. Several of these sitting on the ramp at Kimpo would be a natural. I don't know if that's where they actually RONed or not but, would still look good.

Deleted and installed twice after I first noticed there was no Camp Sign. Same 23 *.bgl files in all 3 attempts. Same result.

I only opened it in ADE to see what, if any, libraries were not in my inventory. When I notice something awry, that's how I check my scenery to make sure that I have all of the required files/libraries.
That also allows an assist in troubleshooting my problem.

I do have the bulletin board and Officers Club.

Of the four, two of the missing objects(they have the same GUID), are adjacent to the O' Club and Hospital. They are 10.997ft AGL. Lights, or signs, of some sort, I assume.

That leaves the Camp Sign and Latrine. The rest of your *.bgls have descriptive names, so, should I be looking for campsign.bgl and latrine.bgl? I have nothing near either of those names.

If this helps, the scenery folder properties are; Size: 28.7 MB (30,127,421 bytes), and, Size on Disk: 28.7 MB (30,171,136 bytes) 23 files, 0 folders...Don

Don, indeed there are three bgls missing from the zip file. The camp sign, latrine, and a light fixture that is over the officers club and hospital. I'll get them along with the textures zipped up in an patch and upload it later today. Thank you for digging into this. Gotta love FSX as everything shows up in my install. I don't have a clue as how those got left out. I simply zipped up my entire folder.

Hi,

I work on the 4077 Bus and a high-res mesh (DEM) for most of the Korean peninsula.

The DEM work is progressing nicely and it seems that there are no topological anomalies that usually come with processing the relatively raw satellite data. Randy gave me a set of coordinates - N38*9.22' E127* 8.67' - I suspect that this is near a river bend in a mountainous region about 40 klicks to the north of Uijongbu.
See encircled area on the image (the vertical scale of the DEM is exaggerated, doesn't really look like that).

Michael, Randy, is my assumption OK? If so I'll process the geotiffs with the resampler and give you guys a link for the mesh BGL!

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark, fantastic idea, only hope the new mesh doesn't play havoc with the flattens I used since it sits in the small valley rather snugly, LOL. I used some freeware mesh from simviation which didn't really change it much from the default, so looking forward to seeing what you have. The unit is just SE of R 238 (RK0U) at N38° 9.22' E127° 8.67' as RD noted. With more detailed mesh, I can see more possibilities.

FYI In case anyone wonders why I picked this spot, I checked sat imagery of the actual supposed area (NE of Seoul) in hopes I could get some good country/mountain imagery for this, but sadly the colors were way off and too many buildings and population now. So I went with plan B and picked an area with good mountain coverage since it is more enjoyable flying these areas in the sim and I remember mountains from the TV show.

Actually RD there is a lower and upper helipad area based on the map from the website. that is a nice bell 47, might as well pop it in. I created 2 helipads at top since i was going to make a static one myself, but never got to it.

I have just uploaded a patch with the three missing bgls and textures. I hope this get all the objects to show up for everyone. Will someone please let me know as soon as you download it. It should be available later today.

I'm really sorry for the mix up. I'm going to chalk it up to the learning curve. I have a sneaky suspicion that it is due to the fact that I have made numerous changes to this scenery over the last several days as I made new objects and changed some of the older ones. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Lordy, Michael if I have to do a complete new upload to resolve the problems with missing objects, I might as well do just that.

Thanks for the Laugh

RD, I just read the "instructions" for your work. Thanks for the Laugh " I'm retired I don't have to be diplomatic" I jus retired myself. Thanks again for your hard work and the laugh....Harley Dude

Hey Randy, I'm pretty sure that you can just replace the zip, rather than do a patch. It's been a while, but, I think that's how I did the fixes for the Phantom panels. [edit] I'm late, I'm late...

Meanwhile, off to Seoul. Then, I can see if I'm good enough to find my way back, ded-reckoning. lol! ...Don

Thank you Rami. If this approach fails, I will spend tomorrow completely redoing the whole thing. There is a pretty good possibility that it won't work.
ADEX is really particular about reading bgls. The old ADEX bgl just may not recognize the new textures, etc.

I have gotten really frustrated with it many times in the past. It was all my fault, however, because I was trying to save time.

Anyway to all you fellows.....enjoy the scenery as is for now and let's hope for the best. Worst case scenario is you'll have to go behind Rosie's to take care of your personal business. At least the shower and chow hall is there...

Randy,

I appreciate all the efforts in the mash w/update but I gotta ask, where did the welcome to mash 4077 sign go? It was in the original (I still have that one just in case).

Thanks
