I do have a couple questions or observation for Alex (I've only skimmed the book). Where's the avionics master?
Glenn
I have the same question Glenn. I finally hit ctrl+E after start-up, and at least got the radios to function....kind of...Looked all over the manual, and no mention of a avionics switch. Once I did get the NAV/COMM 1 active, I also could not get the NAV1 frequency to tune to the VOR I was heading for; even number VOR 109.20, nor was able to get the frequency picked up one the VOR1 Indicator after settling for 109.25.
The ADF seemed to work OK.
Also, not a fan of the default Garmin 500, and am having a heck of a time swapping it for the freebie SimFlyer 296 handheld I have. Seems if I change anything in the default panel folder, I get problems, or nothing shows when calling up the GPS pop-up window.
EDIT::: I'm finally getting it figured out, and have the 296 handheld installed. The USAF NAV1 radio is still 'screwy', so I attached a Friendly Panel COMM/NAV1 radio to my GPS pop-up in order to tune in VOR1. That seemed to work, but would be interested in why the NAV1 gauge is acting like this. It seems most frequencies go in 'half hundreds', as example: 110.00 to 110.05 to 110.10 to 110.15 etc., but for some reason, I cannot get to 109.20, it goes from 109.00 to 109.15 in .05 steps, then jumps to 109.29 from 109.15 instead of 109.20. I notice this happens in some other ranges as well, but just so happened for the frequency (109.20) that I was trying to tune into. Which is why I could not get my VOR to become active.
Did take a short flight anyway, navigated via ADF/NBD''s and it is a nice handling aircraft, I just expect some additional functioning of the various radio's and switches for this price point. The ones that do function, do so cumbersomely. In general, excellently rendered though.
