Mers-el-Kébir water class issue

SOH-CM-2023
Hi guys,

I downloaded Fleet Air Arm Mediterranean campaign and flew around port of Mers-el-Kébir.
I notice some areas inside the port of Mers-el-Kébir where Franch battleships are anchored, sea water is recognized as land.
In visual, it looks sea water but acctualy, I can land there and ships cannot sail there in the area.
I followed Rami's instructions for installing ETO scenery and Afnor scenery.

Any idea for how to fix this?

Mischacaron,

Sorry for not responding earlier. With the transition into a new semester at work and figuring out how a new equilibrium, I didn't have much time to work on CFS2 this week or follow the forums. That being said, what did you use for the installation process? Jean Bomber's original instructions?

Perhaps this might help: https://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=49&id=2932

Hi Rami,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I followed your installation guide.
I maight missed something there,
I will try to check it again step by step.

Anyways, Thanks for your reply. I hope I didn't disturb your studies...

Thanks!

Hi guys,
I have a issue with the water class around Mers-el-Kébir.
I installed Jean Bomber's afnor scenery and rami's ETO ports.
Then it looks perfectly fine on the surface.
But when I drop torpedo on the water in the bay, torpedo won't run and just dust clouds appears.
It seems CFS2 mistakenly perceives the sea surface as the ground.
Any idea what's wrong with my install?

Hi Miccasharon,
Have you got the Afnor_bases layer above the Afnor_scen layer when opening the Scenery Library in Settings after starting the sim?
Kevin

Do you have Jean Bomber's LOD 9 mesh for his Afnor Scenery Part 1? I can't see how it may affect the water class, but you never know. 🤞

I checked on my Med install, ant found I have the samwe issue, so it is not something you missed when installing the scenery, unless we both made the same mistake..
However, I also have no clue how to correct it.

This may or may not help, but I found there were several cooments in the Pantelleria and the Pelagic Islands thread about conflicts between Sander's Eurw, Bruno's Malta, Sander's coastlines / watermasks, Rhumbaflappy's coastlines / watermasks and Jean Bomber's scenery about Pantelleria. Specifically, they were about conflicts in flattens and other .bgl files, which I interpret to mean landclass and waterclass.

I do not have enough understanding on the CFS2 technicalities involved to know whether any of this is relevant to your problems, but perhaps this thread can cast some light of the possible culprits -

I noted issues in posts -
but with my limited understanding, there may be other points in the thread that are relevant,

Hope this helps,
Ro

Do either of you have Sander's Europe .bgl files installed from an ETO installation ? If so, what are the priorities of his files compared to Jean Bomber's .bgl files in your scenery..cfg file ?

Maybe posting your scenery.cfg file would help to fix this problem . . .
