Thanks again, Ted ! I think, from what i can see in the screenshots atleast, AH did a wonderful job on B-25J ! What a great surprise !! Truly hope the flightmodel will do very much justice to the screenies ( first and foremost keep the nosewheel off of the runway a few feet and let her take to the sky by herself ) and that goes for the systems and, first and foremost also, the sounds !

I say YIIIIHAAAAAA and all that !!! :eek::love::love::eek:

You're talking B-17, right ?? NOT B-25J ????....... ( and taking plunges regarding both of these venerable warbirds is an understatement as far as i'm concerned, i'll be up, over, inside, outside, and all over again and again when it comes to these ladies. Bring 'em on !!!! ;-)))

Flying Iron was making a B-17, AH are making a B-25J.

Gotta say, Jan, that's a thread from almost a month ago... why didn't you or anybody else that knew about it inform us ignorant Mitchell aficionados overhere ??....

Imagine an MSFS dev has a B-25J in the works for god knows how long already and announced that monumental fact almost a month ago which would subsequently be very nicely forwarded to the MSFS2020 forum while i, loyal passenger on the SOH MSFS2024 Forum Line, god knows how many times per day, and others with an interest in the B-25J, know exactly nothing about it for nearly a month ! Nice going ! I'd almost say i deffinately feel betrayed.. ( put a fair bit of salt over this food for thought ;-)

Could also be that there's just no interest in a B-25J here in subordinated MSFS2024..

Naturally i'm kidding but just a bit only... What we have here with MSFS 2020 and 2024 is undoubtedly the pinnacle of flight simulation and we might presume particularly the latter will get better and better maybe even bugfree one glorious day, but the current situation of having TWO sims of similar stature of which one is clearly much more preferred than the other ( not to say that one is loved while the other is hated... ) is quite a sad ball game IMHO. I do kinda feel we are being driven apart... MSFS2020 the real deal. MS2024 the pathetic follower.

Oh well, what else is new, we'll just struggle on, like Don Quixote's little Pancho Sanza, also a follower but certainly not pathetic, just overweight.

Thanks Denny ! Yeah i heard about it sometime ago. Bummer but understandable. Atleast we have a B-17 on final approach. We know about the quality of Flying Iron stuff which is top (although i never liked the Hellcat panel and gauges..). We know a little bit about Microprose now what the with screenshots and video's, can't wait for the 9th to experience their Fort for 'real' ! Atm i have ambivalent feelings...

Have to say honestly i don't see me waiting blankly on another Spitfire... Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. ( mind you i do LOVE the Spitfire ! ;-)

Sorry I've been so absent from the conversation guys! I don't currently run 24, but my brother does and I'll be glad to give my $.02 when he gets it and I give it a try. I've only so far watched Dreamofwings' video. I'll be interested to see how much of the systems are working on the first release. There were certain things I liked, and certain things I didn't like lol. So I'll wait to comment till I've seen some video or done some flying! Would be happy to answer anyone's questions when it's out.

In the real aircraft, on final approach with full flaps, you need no more than 21-in Manifold Pressure with a 500 fpm descent to keep the aircraft at an approach speed of about 100-105 KIAS. B-17s easily do go-arounds with flaps still full down.

BTW, I've also seen some folks on various forums stating that they hope that the aircraft will have a "rough" or "hard to handle" flight model, believing that to be realistic. In reality, every pilot I've ever heard talk about the B-17 talks about how nice of a flying aircraft it is, and how it handles as if it were just a very large Piper Cub. The only vice I've ever heard with regard to flying a B-17 is that they're a challenge in crosswinds.

"Rough" or "Hard to Handle" is a very interesting word choice. Like you, I don't think I've ever heard the Fortress handling that way. It's more like a big ole classic 50s car with no power steering. That big tail DOES make a big impact in the wind however. Especially on ground handling. You have to be careful not to let the wind take it because it could whip you around. A ton of the ground handling is aided throttle management.

Thanks for the heads up on that review. I was really hoping for a lot more, even in an early access stage. I don't know if I can push myself to buy this, in it's current state, on the hopes of unknown future updates. This just doesn't cut it, in my opinion. In comparison to the DC-6, L-1049H or even the freeware B-24, this is hard to take seriously in it's present state.
