Milviz F-4J Repaints

Duckie

SOH-CM-2024
Here's the first of several Milviz F-4J repaints I have planned. It was just uploaded to the SOH.

I apologize for the size of this upload but I modified many of the bump and specular files, as well as repainted the drop tanks and all of the wing pylons. If you chose to download this repaint, my future repaint uploads of this model will be smaller in size as you will already have the modified tank and pylon files as well as the bumps and specs to use.

How do you make the pylons appear without the Aim-9's??

Johan

Johan, just dump them on the ground prior to take off. Lower panel, just left of the stick, Red PUSH TO JETT button.

Select left wing then push the red button. Repeat for the right wing.

Great work Duckie, off to download. You learn something new every day. Dump the AIM-9 missiles on the ground to keep the pylons showing up. Thanks!!

Hi,

It is not recommended to paint too many paints of the J at this time as we are working on the J/S at this time and though the changes are small, they do exist.

Thank you.

Kat

This becoming...oh, I don't, wishie washie, see your post of just a few days ago when I suggested we should stop painting the J.

Hi,

No, you may keep on painting. The point is that the areas where the flaps/slats are is a touchy area to be dealing with.

Plus we have now added the catapult bridle hooks.

We are also presently working on replacing the stencils with the Navy/Marine ones. These will be on a separate layer set so that they can be "imported" "exported" over.

We are trying to get the J external model ready so that we can put it out with the next iteration of the E. Then you can really go to "town".

Thank you.

Kat.

So, I guess the off and on again is off again. Wow! I give up. No more J paints from me until and unless there is a "real" J or S released, or whatever it may turn out to be.

Sheesh. Do you have any idea how many "J" paints have already been made??

Granted. I'm looking forward to the upcoming "J/S" version, but there has been no specific announcement or timeline. As far as I'm concerned it will be released ......whenever.

In the meantime, I'm flying the heck out of the "E/J" version and loving every minute of it. So, Duckie, if you want to continue making repaints.... I'll be flying them.

Hi,

I only post what I am asked to post. I am the mouthpiece, if you will, of MV in this forum. A position I detest from time to time.

Colin has asked me to point out that the J model included with the E is unsupported. That means you takes your "chances" with painting it.

He is looking at releasing a J/S paintkit along with the external models shortly. (Shortly being less than two weeks.

Thank you and I apologize for the inconsistency of the posts.

Oh, my! So many things I could say here just feeding off your answer but what would be the point. So, I will just say thank you for your post.

And all this happens just when another talented repainter begins to release skins for the MilViz F-4. I was really excited by Duckie's release yesterday, especially with the comment about more to follow. Personally, I'm not too enamoured about the tail of this first release, but I do like what has been done with the rest of the airframe, so would happily grab a copy of this so that I have the requisite files for later releases. I just wish other repainters would look at the bicentennial celebration paint schemes because that's a rich vein of repaints that seems to be rarely touched.

Anyway, the confusion caused by the recent release of an E-based J and the imminent release of an S-based J may well be part of the reason that most repainters seem to be shy of working on the current F-4 release. But, as Colin and Kat have said, the E-based J is unsupported, which to my mind means that further changes are likely to be very limited. So, I can only plead with Duckie to continue with his original plan to enrich our collections of MilViz F-4 repaints ...
