Mission Builders Thread

ive never tried making a mission but thought id just do a looksie at what is involved and so i tried opening MB but i keep getting font errors also is there a idiots guide for dummies like me on mission building *lol*

:kilroy:DonSPa, look inside your CFS3 ETO Expansion main game folder. There are two MB icons in there. One is named "CFS3 ETO Expansion Mission Builder", and the other "CFS3 ETO Expansion Mission Builder.ico".

The former is what you want. Right-click on it and check Properties to see if it's viable. Check "target" and "Start in". If need be, you can change these parameters to match your install pathway. You can send it to desktop by right-clicking again, if you so choose.

If it still doesn't work, let us know.:d

Carrier Woes

Can some one explain to me where the carriers are located. I want to spawn and take off from one. The instruction is to "simply select one of the drop deck carriers and face it on a heading of 270 deg" I only see one carrier and it is in the regular units section. The heading cannot be adjusted for this. In the facility section I do not see any carriers.

Help appreciated

To fly a carrier TO mission select ERA 4 and look for mission Gladiator Greece_carrier mission. Or go to ERA 3 Historical and select Norway 001 (Dauntless Carrier TO) or Norway 002 (Avenger CTO). The Norway missions have the localized wind in them by coordinates.

To add carriers in MB add them as ships as per screen shot. Do not select any carriers labeld FH or full height.

The ETO Flak is the standard ETO flak gun with all new features. The ETO_flak1 is the same gun but fires blanks. This gun can be used to add heavy flak you can walk on but the mission will still be survivable, you can mix the ETO_flak and ETO_flak1 to achieve any level of custom flak you need.

what is the maximum altitude at which these gun will fire?


About the a_90mm, is it still the stock one? what is the maximum altitude for this AA gun?
 
as nuts as it seems, bomber command would send squads in at 2 or 3 or more(?) different altitudes to draw fire away from (for?) each other... ...targets targeting targets...:isadizzy:
 
Yes I've recently seen film fo BC formations in transit to Germany and was amazed a the depth of the bomber stream. No wonder that being hit by your own mates bombs was real possibility.

over the target, the skipper had two choices:
1 - bomb at very high altutude with Nachjagd fighters around

2 - bomb at lower altitude with flack and bombs falling from above

... all this in the dark, sure it was frightening to be in a BC aircraft...

Can I have say 4 different a/c in my flight i.e. 1 flyable spit and 3 AIs which have different codes? will this work?

Hi Not sure what you mean by codes but you can have many different plane types both allied and axis from different spawn points as well as multiple armament choices and goal targets. Some of the missions I have built will have say, A Beau squadron, two Temp V's and a Spit squadron. All with different goals or attack plans up against multiple axis squadrons of different plane types.

It is really just up to your imagination.

Hi Tailwind, thanks for the reply, what i meant by codes is say the flyable a/c is a spit id "V" and the ai's are say "Z,Y and T" all in the same squadron / wing.

I am really glad to hear you are going to do some mission building. As for your aircraft question:

Only the same aircraft can be combined in a "player" flight. However you can build a spawn with any comination of different aircraft. You can even mix in Bombers and fighters.

Hey Pops,

Sorry about that. It is a known problem for us. It went thru as a "spawn Y". If you go into the vehicle XDP up in the right hand corner change the spawn to N that will take care of it. It was intended for MB only not as a spawned vehicle. We will fix it next time around.

after numerous tries of re dl eto ex i still cannot get mb to work. it will show in the main eto folder two files one being just an icon the other being a url file .when i right click it to go to properties and select target i get a mb file thats an icon with some other files like sound dll and read me.when these are clicked i get error box saying a bunch of junk that i dont understand. i wonder if the dl is bad from the sight?. everything else works fine. i started with a clean cfs3 updated to the 1a. i did not update cfs3 with the mission pack. i'm tired of trying. would have liked to try my hand at creating some missions.

The mission builder icon I use i not in the mission builder folder. It is a short cut file in the main game folder. Try this one

thats the one i try but when i set the pointer on it it gives the kind of file but no size of the file and when i right click it to properties and click target it sends me to a mb icon with the file size.when i click it it gives me a error box with a lot of junk in it i dont understand.
