More variations on the Tinmouse 737...

Hi, guys!

The Tinmouse turned out to be highly addictive to me. I'm kind of stuck to C-GNDC. After her first life with Nordair, she joined Canadian Airlines. So this 1992 "Canadian North" livery logically is next:

While with Canadian North, this ship was named "Spirit of Iqaluit / L'Esprit d'Iqaluit".


In 1997, the "Canadian" skins looked like this:

Note the stains on the rear fuselage, obviously caused by reverser fumes. Did I mention I like 'em dirty?

Look at the spelling!
It's supposed to be I-Q-A-L-U-I-T !
So why on earth wrote the moronic aircraft painter "Iqalit" onto it?
In french and english as well?
No more "u" in the letter box?

It wouldn't have happened if it still was named "Frobisher Bay"...

Think I'll have to apologise to the 7.250 inhabitants of Iqaluit (which is Nunavut's capital after all).

A fix will of course be rolled out today...

Same airframe, different appearance.
Sources tell C-GNDC wearing this dress in 2001/2002, after Canadian Airlines were acquired by Air Canada. By 2003, she was already operated by First Air - now guess who's next...

Well, I've seen some paint kits in my two years of repainting aircraft, but the one provided by the Tinmouse group simply is excellent!
There's a nose-to-tail master fuselage file of 4096 x 1024 px. You can paint the whole airframe at once and then split the layers needed (lining, logos, lettering etc.) in four parts to paste to the four fuselage files. No more fiddling with adjustemt marks and annoying shifting the lines one pixel upwards to match to the adjacent section. It's just a dream!
By concentrating on C-GNDC, the worst part of this series is to search the appropriate font for the registration letters...

And because it's so easy to paint this tube, here comes #4 of the C-GNDC series:

It's the 2003 "first" First Air version. I know there's been a First Air rendition of the 737-200 Pax version already done by David Lewis on C-FNVT, but as far as I can see, the convertible/gravel kit model still is missing.

C-GNDC #5

I think it wasn't hard to guess which one would be the next rendition of C-GNDC:

It's the current "Northern Lights" livery, as shown here:

Compared to the 2003 version, the multi-coloured cheatlines are gone and the "First Air" lettering is little smaller. The overall appearance is set some notches cleaner - it's a fresh-painted aircraft after all!

Incredible work Markus, you are a machine!

These repaints have motivated to re-install the Tinmouse; I used to have it before I had a paid-up version of FSUIPC which made it pretty much useless, but now it is my favourite jet. The early 73's (like the DC9, 727 and the like) were a real hands on aircraft - those guys transitioning from turboprops and pistons to the first generation of jetliners must really have had their work cut out for them!

A fine high-resolution First Air lettering can be found here:

It's a PNG file with already transparent background - easy-to-use!
I just had to "squeeze" it a notch down (about 80%) to avoid "smearing" all over the roof...

The NORDAIR lettering consists of "Eurasia extended" (italic, bold),
its reg was set in of those fine RAF fonts, available here:

The Canadian's and First Air's regos were made with standard Arial and Helvetica, also squeezed or stretched to match the original (easy to do as long as they are on the vector layer).
