There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.
If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.
Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Please see the most recent updates in the "Where did the .com name go?" thread. Posts number 16 and 17.
Probably because no one has closed this thread. As long as it's open people will post comments irregardless of how many others there are. There were also sections in the forum for Scenery Design, Model Design, Screenshots and so on. . .but rarely did anyone visit those let alone post anything. Where did folks post all those questions and such? In the main SOH Forum. . .force of habit.:salute:Microsoft Flight has its own section in the Forum. I am just wondering how this thread managed to live so long in the FSX section?

NOT TOO HARD TO FIGURE OUT!!! JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROMISES OF WHAT FSX WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. THEY ASKED FOR OUR INPUT AND IGNORED IT. LOOK AT HOW IT WAS PRESENTED TO THE PUBLIC WITH EDITED SCREEN SHOTS AND CLIPS. LOOK AT THE BUG INFESTED FRAME RATE HOG WE WHERE GIVEN.
I'm not sure how one can insult 'aviation' or a hobby, but this video is clearly depicting a flying lesson. If people would stop slinging mud for a moment and think about what they're seeing, this is very interesting. How else can the new Flight retain the complexity and detail of FSX while being accessible to everyone? You might reflect on this, too: those 'narrative comments' are, fairly obviously, one side of a conversation. And I also agree with Warchild's/Pam's comment on the narrative comments being an insult to aviation and to our beloved hobby
I couldn't agree with you more. FSX was like FS2000 happening all over again.
There's more: M$ almost killed our hobby by axing the Aces Studio, and now they want to "merge" us with the gaming kiddies. More insults.
We'll see what the future brings us, but I don't trust M$ one bit, not after what they did to Aces Studio (and to the general public with the monster Vista)
I'll get off me soapbox now...
This is my therie. M$ has developed a bit of a pattern to releasing software. It hits a home run after releasing a dud. So far they have followed this pattern with almost all products.
Windows 2.0? dud. 3.1? Win. Windows 95? Dud, 98? Win! Windows ME? Dont even get me started, Windows XP? Win! Windows Vista? Ya. Windows 7, see the pattern?
Office 2003? Great! 2007? Dud. 2010? Home run!
Flight 2000? dud. 2004? People still play it and love it! FSX? I would never call FSX a dud, but it was no home run. Steep hardware req's, plagued by DX10 problems and a difficult OS (Vista). If MS follows its patter, Flight will be a win. We can only hope!
I didnt realize Aces was the only studio capable of ever making a flight sim? Someone needs to tell 1C/Oleg, Eagle Dynamics, the DCS guys and X-plane that simming died with Aces!!! NOES! I have been "simming" for a good 20 years now, and I have seen sim companies come and go like the changing of the tides. Dynamix? Lucas Arts (SWOTL)? The list is almost endless. When one falls, another takes its place as long as the market can support it.
Like I said above, MS has a pattern, and Windows 7 redeamed MS in my eyes. I think even Windows Phone 7 will redeam them after the 6.5 turkey they hatched two years ago! We will see how things go. I dont know why your so hung up about Aces Studio though. Its not like YOU lost your job on that. Also, from the MS press release, the new studio (whatever its called) is being staffed by "many of the same creative minds that helped deliver countless entries in the “Flight Simulator”"!

People will read into a video what they want based on what they see in front of them and what has already been presented. Thus far, the Stearman is front and center which has already made me wonder exactly what it is they're trying to portray. I'm not a great fan of that airplane or anything else of that type. I fly them occasionally, but the thought that this airplane would be the basis for their "Break Out-Introductory" video leaves me a bit bored. Also, I'm sorry, but I don't see it as an obvious conversation. . .it's a woman speaking about flying, to me, she's narrating. Also, if they do ATC. . .it better be "real" ATC and not this robotic system that we have in place right now. You can receive taxi information for an IFR flight then proceed to taxi in any direction you want including across the infield, arrive at the wrong rwy and get clearance to take off, lol. . . really? The ATC for ProPilot 98 was more sophisticated than what we have now.I'm not sure how one can insult 'aviation' or a hobby, but this video is clearly depicting a flying lesson. I predict that the next video will be the 'reveal'. Flight will be about multi-crew, instructor/student, interactive experience. Maybe even ATC.
