MSFS 1.19.8.0 release notes

It's so weird. I had the download issue with SU5 and had to do the Xbox App trick. With this version, the update worked in Store with no issues.
 
Same for me , Bob.
I have never moved my community folder and never had any problems.
I have the boxed version b.t.w.

Only?? I'm up to over 15GB and I feel like that's too much. I like to keep things as clean as possible, so I have very little in the way of mods.
 
Right, trying everything in the book, and the install was corrupted...
Now downloading and installing the whole sim again.
We'll see how that goes.
Tomorrow morning I'll have a new sim, finger crossed.
 
My update went fast, problem I found was that I had lots of individual content that needed updating which took about 1 hour after the main update. The only issue I have run into was a CTD flying the Just Flight Arrow. The screen and sound froze, then went to CTD. Going to test it more & see. Also looks like we may have lost 20 to 40% FPS.

It's all those great little freeware airports at Flightsim.to for British Columbia in particular and Canada in general. They're hard to resist.
I find I can't add just one. But it's barely a drop compared to all the addons I have for P3Dv4.

There seems to be a lot less tree popping then before, at least puttering around Vancouver, Canada. I have the Offscreen Terrain Pre-caching
set to Ultra. I haven't noticed any particular FPS drop yet, but then I'm locked down at 36 FPS and it's only been an hour flight so far in the
JF Warrior II.
 
I am very glad for the comprehensive knowledge in this forum, and the information in this thread, as it made this update much less frustrating for me. However, I did wait until the update had been out for awhile to see what kind of issues people were reporting. Unfortunately, with MSFS, being first isn't the best.
 
Was stuck with no update like a few here....didn't know (until I read around of course), that since the XBOX update (i.e. SU5)....PC simmers now MUST have the XBOX app installed....sigh.
Taking out my frustrations on a nice dawn flight from Key West to Miami in my DC-6 USAF Day Glow paint...

Compared to last update this one went fairly smooth for me, only a few loops, and a few things from the that wouldn't update from the Content Manager until I exited, deleted the partially installed content, and re-booted. I was surprised to find updates for all the previous WU's. All in all, it took about 1.5 hours. Fortunately I've kept notes from previous updates and have developed a pretty good checklist with troubleshooting hints.

The only really weird (and new) thing was after the last reboot my monitor settings reset and the nvidia control panel was no where to be found. After reinstalling the latest drivers, all is well.

Took a quick flight from Cologne-Bonn to Frankfurt to see some of Germany and verified a few of the yet-to-be fixed bugs, and some of the issues being reported on the official site. I hope to explore the Alps tomorrow.

My sim is updating, gets to 98% or so, crashes back to 0% and starts over. I let it do that a few times, same thing ( definition of insanity?) so then I just closed it all. I'm going to go find something else to do, what a huge disappointment. I've been waiting for this date anxiously. Now it's here, and now I can't even open the simulator, brutal....I suppose I'll try again in a few more days, when all the hotfixes become available. This time, I'm one of the unlucky ones.
 
Update went smooth for me. Noticed much better ground textures and graphics, or so it seems. Only had one CTD on my first flight after.

First quick impressions:

Frankfurt finally there and great, though I will try to combine it with Frankfurt Landmarks from Orbx, cause some of the skyscapers look better there.

Why photogametrie for a place like Wuppertal????? There´s Cologne (didn´t look that up yet) and Düsseldorf in the area, much cooler skylines and way more important.

Helgoland looks realy neat now, like it!

Some bugs are not fixed unfortunetely, especially concerning mesh problems on the Mosel river near to Koblenz that I found instantly.

As stated above, I really experienced better graphics, everything looks crisper, sharper, more detailed with less blurr.

Will do some more sightseeing for sure.

Zsolt, after installation of this Xbox App run MSFS. Update will be direct in MSFS as it was always.
 
As others have said, I had to install but also have the Xbox app running in order for the update to trigger in the MS store.
