Must haves for a Battle of Britain install?

Cees,

It doesn't seem to happen to mine...did you happen to make sure in your advanced settings that your DEM settings and the terrain complexity level are set to very high and 100%, perspectively?

Hi Cees. Jeez, I don't have an ETO install at the moment, but If I am remembering correctly, the fields blended in pretty good. Did you use Rami's ETO guide? It IS a lot of work, bud, but the rewards are worth it. The pros might have an easy fix for ya. Hang in there!

Thanks guys! I'l keep you posted. For now: It seems okay. I did nothing to the install! This sim has it's (her?:a1089:) own tricks it seems. Almost like a..... never mind! :)

Now your getting it, Cees! Soon "she" will have ya sleeping on the sofa and you will wonder, "Now what did I do wrong?" :ernae:

I guess all these models don't have lod models? My framerates are killin' It's a slideshow. My comp isn't that young, but I thought to have a ball on my machine. Must tweak a bit to get acceptable framerates...any suggestions for alternative planes?

Cees,

FPS problems in BoB should be minimal, with a couple of exceptions. The Fiat Br-20 is a FPS killer in CFS2, as well as Thicko's Dornier Do-17 in large numbers. Everything else should be relatively okay.

If you're having problems, the first thing I'd do is to delete the exhaust effects from all of your BoB aircraft. While they look pretty, these are FPS killers in missions, no question about it.

For the Dornier Do-17, there's an alternative low-res model you can use. However, all of the aircraft which I selected for BoB are multi-lod.

Cees you can get virtually all the stuff here (checkout the warbirds libray cfs2 aircraft) for that 1940 UK install mate - I've got Spit 1, Spit 2 (both "A"'s - haven't found a the "B" with 2x20mm cannon yet, but they weren't very common and the cannon usually jammed anyway's), Hurricane 1, Defiant, Beaufighter 1, Blenheim 1/1F & 1V/1Vf, Gladiator, Skua, Fulmar, Hampden, Wellington, Anson, Walrus, etc. plus Bf-109E4-7's, Bf-110C, Do.17z, He-111H, Ju-88A, Ju-87B plus various other recon. or seaplane types, also the Br.20 and Cr.42 for the Italians brief and not very succesfull excursion to the East coast.

Because of the limited number of aircraft available for the BoB historically I stuck-in the extra aircraft to take my 1940 England-France install into 1941-42 as well, like Bf-109f, Spit Va/b, Hurricane 11, Whirlwind, Fw-190a2, Typhoon early etc. Then you're good to go on the cross channel operations and Dieppe etc.

I also added the French aircraft along with things like Fairey Battles, Hs.123 and Hs.126 to fight the BoF. Still got room for about 25 more planes so downloading Dutch and Belgium stuff now! :jump:

Seagull those Brit?euro screens are cool - unfortunately the second link appears broken though.

A few scans from an old Airfix Catalogue that might be of interest - Lot 1

Let me know if the second link is still not working and I will re-upload the file for everyone. :salute:

Awesome these scans! I downloaded them all! I'll try the link. And maybe I can make some screens myself.
I feel at home here! You guys are fantastic!

Cees

Edit: the link works!
