Name that airplane

Wow...looking incredible. :ernae:
Just curious though; did the Air Express have two doors? All the pics I have imply there was only one door, on the left side (same deal with the Vega; the Orion had an emergency exit on the left side but a door on the right-go figure)
Going a little OT...I was inspired by this plane coming out so I took the default FS9 Vega and deleted the center fuel tanks and reduced the wing tanks to the standard 50-gallon units, to better emulate a 'stock' Vega. It doesn't fly like a drunken sailor on takeoff now, that's for sure. It's actually a rather pleasant cross-country aircraft.

Oh my goodness, what a loverly bird. I've always thought the wooden Lockheeds were just about the prettiest planes ever built.

You know, (hint) a lot of the components in that Air Express could easily be reused in a passenger cabin Vega. Or (shameless pleading) a Sirius, the all time good looker.
Y'know, Ruth Nicols' sunken-wing Vega, the Akita, would be pretty neat to do as well (wing was lowered 14 inches, got a belly skid and a bubble canopy)

Hmmmmmm....found an interior pic that looked like there were two doors. I guess I need to dig a little more on that. If you see an interior pic that shows only one Drzook let me know so I can make the changes.

Thanks
Chris

Well, here's what I got. I can see where it would look like a door over there, as evidenced in the first shot. It was kind of hard to find pictures of Air Expresses on their right sides (I guess the left side was their more photogenic side:costumes:) I'll admit Cpt Hawks does obscure the view to see if Texaco 5 has a right side door. The only other pic I have is only a model of an Air Express (Gilmore) but it does show the emergency exit relatively well on the right side, around the middle window. Hope this helps.

The Lockheed now has one left side door. I wish I had not made the windows with such round corners, it makes the polys dark in the corners but I'm still working on it:running:.

Yes it will Dave but it will be cheap enough where it don't hurt:costumes:. It's just about my only source of income unless you count disability as income:isadizzy:...lol

I'm still at it, rebuilding the cockpit after a hic up in FSDS. Can't find any cockpit photos of the Air Express so I am modeling it close to the Vega.

I'm thinking the panel was pretty close to the Vega's or Sirius' panels. I found a couple from previous versions of FS. The first double shot is from Lindbergh's Sirius (FS2002 IIRC). The middle shot is the panel bitmap from the FS5/98 version of the Gilmore Lion. The black and white shot is allegedly from Lindbergh's Sirius but based on other photos of that plane I'm thinking this may've come out of another Sirius. Hope this helps.

Test flight tonight and only a few tweaks to do and she'll be ready.

Here's what she looked like in flight.:jump:

I'd like to say the suspense is killing me but....
who am I kidding? The suspense is killing me:jump::jump:

Hey Guys and Gals

Just a few screenshots of the Air Express to show a little progress. Working on the VC , she'll be ready in a day or 2.:running::jump: This model has been the most fun of all the models I have built, no stress and lots of fun.:icon_lol:
