Ah yes, it's quite a good scenery that I started using a few months ago.
If I remember correctly, on the other side of the mountains to the west, there is Kern Valley, a very nice little airport made by VBazillo, which I would also higly recommend (for VFR though, not for military ops )

Drove over this past week to check out how accurate the scenery was, sadly can't get on the airfield portion of NAS. Can say the area around Ridgecrest, well one can see why we have test ranges out there.

I've heard of strange sightings of UFO's in that area. I see the nearest town is Ridge crest which is adjacent to the base and a few other small towns scattered about. Seem to bit on the desolate side, .

It is very desolate out there. Been a few years (maybe 30) since I was in the area. In most places you can stand and turn around 360degrees and not see anything man made.

Earlier in the month I drove to Mojave and Edwards AFB from Bakersfield hoping to find a museum or two. China Lake is working on expanding their site, expecting a few more statics moved over (not in this scenery), but it is basically 1 room. The Edwards Flight Test museum was pretty small compared to just how much history that has taken place on the dry lake.
