Bjoern

worst developer ever
Good grief, battling with the material settings wasn't pleasant at all. But hey, she finally has spec and bump maps! :d

Note the (very, very) subtle rainbow effect on the cockpit windows...

Introducing: The APU version.

Spoiler actuators.

Next: Definately the UK version with the large antenna.

Then, either finally getting those [censored] taxi and landing lights to work properly OR already doing 3D "illuminate stuff" lights.

After that, either paint liveries and WIP release or the -300.

Very nice,Bjoern. I'll look forward to flying it in sim.:wiggle::salute:

Can it do reverse hammerheads and whats the roll rate like? :d

How much time have put into the build?

Goodness, don't ask!

The time frame would be more than two and a half years so far, at least judging from the age of my WIP thread on FFDS.

Here's the very first pic dated march '08.

The worst thing is: There's still a LOT missing and I won't ever be really done...

Ask Dornier, not me!

I dare to say though that the climb abilities even put a full blown fighter jet to shame.

Wow!

Bjoern, your project has been fun for me to follow not only here but in the design forums as well. You have kept at it for a long time, and now you are getting close to a finished project! I look forward to seeing the final product. :)
Here's to a job well done! :ernae:

That's pretty dang slick plane making!
Little tip about spinning prop textures---
Dont have the texture go all the way to the poly's edges. Leave a transparent "rim" so the poly looks perfectly round, and can't see the straight edges.
But you prolly already knew that...

Nice work Bjoern!

You've done a heck of a lot in 2 weeks.

So, when you are done, what are you going to treat yourself to as a reward? Go to Hawaii? 2.5 Years is a long project.

Bill

Looking mighty fine there Bjoern.

Another little tip. If you get Arno's Model Converter X from fsdeveloper you can load aircraft mdls into it and find out exactly what material settings are used. A very handy educational tool.

Thanks guys!

Didn't think of that, to be honest.
Thanks, Tim!

Well, if I told you that I have been at my Thorp since 1996...:d

Good grief! :isadizzy:

I guess you had to start all over serveral times so far, with all the new FS iterations...

The joys of the post-exam and pre-internship period.

If you'll pay, why not? :d

I've used MCX extensively on the default models, but even Aces couldn't get any consistency in terms of material settings into them. *Grr*

Bjoern,

Just out of interest, how many polys are in this project? I cant wait for it to be released - no pressure.

LOL. It seems with the new FSX materials there are now a thousand different ways to do the same thing and everyone does it differently.

I think *Grr* is woefully inadequate to express the frustration you can experience when making stuff for FSX :icon_lol:. I think I've invented a whole bunch of new swear words since installing the FSX SDK (there were a few swear words involved in just installing the SDK!).

"And God said "Let there be light"
And there was light."

(Is it right that way, Christians?)

*Whistles nonchalantly*

I might go for the VRS/Lotus method for landing and taxi though.
But Bill Leaming's is great for logo, inspection and other non-important lights...

- Edit: For funsies, one more...
