need your opinions on bullet hole animation

I have just finished updating the AW F4U Corsair with this animation. It takes more than 3-4 hours to align approximately 70 bullet hole polygons.

Do you guys think this is a worthwhile addition to the aircraft? or it is not that useful. Once you are hit, you are almost dead anyway.

I need to update more than 20 AW aircraft with multiple versions.

Hi Andrew,

It sounds like a lot of hard work for little return. I can live without them.

Thanks for all the beautiful aircraft.

Never would put bullet holes on any aircraft I was making my self as it is just too much work.

Andrew..... 70 is probably over the top, but 1 or 2 skip a few, would be ok.... just to show some damage, that it's been in a scuffle...

Hi Andrew, you are right when you say that they don’t show until you’re almost dead anyway. If not dead the aircraft is not exactly flyable. Most of time when I experimented the damage texture was visible at the same time the bullet holes showed. So really you could just paint them on the damage textures.

Cryingtoto’s Seafire is the only non-stock aircraft that I think that I have that has any kind of bullet-hole damage.

Honestly, it’s cool, but too much work for very little gain. Or else more 3rd party aircraft would have shown them. If CFS2 is telling me that my left aileron is shredded, and I can’t roll worth beans, what does seeing bullet holes does for me? Just my $.02.

I agree. They do look cool, but I think it is too much effort.
The way I use CFS2 aircraft in flying missions, if I get hit I usually have my hands full trying to get away from the fight and then landing somewhere, I don't have much time looking at the holes anyway.

Bullets holes need a lot of work, and are not visibles from far, damaged textures are quicker to do and have more effect.

Here the bullets holes made by a 0.303 (less than 8 milimeters) are nearly not visibles, a lot of work for a relative result...
