Nemeth EC-120B Colibri

I ended up getting the Cera 412. Smooooooooth :icon_lol:
The fm while a little tame for me, does a good job of giving you the feeling of inertia. Very docile but its a fun, mid size work horse. There was just so much good buzz and feedback on it that I couldnt resist. The price being the same of better than others of less quality didnt hurt either.

I just flew a 50 mile shuttle with few stops at the heli locations up in the glaciers in Tongass. Smooth, sweet, well mannered heli. Lost my airspeed ind in the clouds despite having the pitot heater on. It eventually came back as I decended to sea level. I would be super cool to have passengers you could click on and off as if simulating passenger pickup/drop off. Simular to the clicking cargo and it appearing and reappearing in one plane I had.
Then for a radical change of scenery I went to Flytampa St Barts.
I have alot of early FSX Aerosoft Sceneries,Lukla, the island off Germany,Monaco,Tahiti, Dillingham, any other good challenging heli sceneries anyone can suggest?

I would love to see a Fscargo type random mission generator you could setup for helis. You could have a accident, fly there, pickup and go to X.Another might be a medical emergency and a Y and then go to Z. Random but you could set your home base, distance ect. I know something simular was done a long time ago but it was cheesy missions and I did not hear much of anything good about it. Abacus maybe?

Never mind the quality, feel the width. Even if it is a pig to paint, there are some really excellent realworld paints on this helicopter - the one I am working on now is around 75%. A few finals on the UV Maps. new specs and bumps...

This one's owners are very imaginative! I hope they don't mind my efforts - I can't actually find an e-mail contact for them. Only the company name.

While we're at it, the Pilot needs a change... Those of you as knows will know the hidden smirks here...

Very nice CBris. :applause:
I have always loved this Helicopter and really missed not being able to use it in FSX "without the usual issues". I wish that Nemeth would fix and refine the texture issues, but am So Happy that they brought it to FSX SP2. It is my favorite Helo now. I am not a real world pilot, but I know what I like and I Like This Chopper. :wiggle:

Thanks DC.

I push the limits as far as I can or I'll soon be left behind by all that great talent that is HOT on my heels.

There are a lot of really interesting european paints for this one. US paints seem to be nothing but lines and stripes. Kinda boring. :icon_lol:

Getting there - new bumps ok. Need two more items fixed on the external textures and need to invert the Nemeth deliberate text inversion on the centre console (I've done the daylight one, but the night one needs the same fix - sheez)...

And then the specular...

This is the most beautiful repaint on the EC120 I have ever seen. I had the plan to do it myself a few years ago on the FS9 model. But this looks AWESOME! Great work!

I converted a repaint of my own today, but how can I get the reflections on the paint? Its the bump map I guess. Could you tell me what I need to do to get the reflections on it. Here is my repaint(it's made in Paint.net).

The Nemeth bump map is a 1024 texture with "noise" added. The problem with noise on "small tiles" is that each spot is a pixel large - make bumps out of them and you get a nasty orange peel effect.

I use large textures without the addition of "noise" and above all I use different "Cubic Environment Maps" and alpha channels to get nice reflections on the paint. Lep, if you want a bit more shine though, the best start will be making the respective parts of the alpha channel light grey (about 20% black)

As for mine - the white on the topsides of the engine cowlings needs a dash of tweak, as does the pattern on the right side of the tailboom.

I could use poetic license when I do the speculars - a dash of "plum" under the black might look tasty - and maybe some metalflake too. The interior is getting the conversion to carbon fibre structure, plus new carpets and seat covers.

Thanks, it works! But now it is like there is some kind of a very high gloss layer on it. Do I need to adjust the alpha color to more dark or more white?

Like I say - it is all a matter of preference - I happen to like glossy planes ;) To reduce gloss, you lighten the alpha. If it is too shiny for your taste, go down to 15% or even 10% black.

Oh, the reason some developers add noise to their bump maps (orange peel) is that a "rough surface" is not so reflective - but then you will find that the size of the "orrange peel" pitting is too big for a sim plane - even on super high resolution 4096 textures.
