New beauty

if you let me know what is the best alternative, I can amend it, and also maybe add the Recce pack. Do you have any more info on that?

Hello Gaff,

Again, much appreciated.

Reference the recce pack, there's not a lot of photo info on it (at least that I've seen). Here's an image here:

http://www.spyflight.co.uk/buccaneer.htm

and some more images here - and a bit of write up.

To be honest, it wasn't until I saw Ironclaw's SFP2 model that I really got a sense of what this might have looked like.

The pod, in-game, looks very much like what these images show.

I'll see what else I can dig up ...

You sir, are a phenom!

I can't wait to get back to my sim pc in a few days to give the model a detailed go-through.

Many kind thanks!!!

Hello all
Hello UKMIL,

I observed on my Buccaneer cockpit, it lacks an indication of the Mach number, a flag on the artificial horizon , and no active control on the RMI!
On the other hand on the left, Radio 2 is not displayed!

Is this normal?
Is there way to remedy these small inconveniences?
Thank you to you!

Hello,

Thanks for pointing those out Alain - noticed the absence of the Machmeter and radio last night - good catch on the others.

I don't know if it's just me - but when I'm trimmed for level flight, the a/c seems to have a bit of a nose-down attitude - anyone else get this? Maybe the upated FDE that hschuit mentioned will sort this out ...

Question - is the BLC feature "hardwired open" into the FDE when flaps/elevator flaps are extended? I assume so, since there's no way to activate/deactivate it.

Finally, I took it aboard the Ark Royal a dozen or so times last night. Seemed almost eerily easy to take the wire - held approach speed at around 120 kts (which seemed a bit low), but from a visibility standpoint, was a joy to land. Apart from what I suspect may be a bit too generous of a landing speed, the only carrier issue I noticed was that even at such a slow speed, the nose pitched way down (into the deck). Maybe it will require a bit of tailhook tweaking in the aircraft.cfg - not likely a biggie to fix.

For the purists, this Bucc does not get launched in the real-world nose-off-the-deck attitude, nor is there a switch to auto-retract the gear on take-off, as is present in the Flying Stations' S.1. Nevertheless, at least for me, these two omissions don't take away from a fantastic enjoyment of the model - and a respect to the UKMIL team for their effort on it.

I haven't yet experiemented with the payload options - looks like a fairly wide range of options, in keeping with the long service life of the S.2.

Overall, I'm quite impressed - the few niggles are hopefully easy to address - and the prospect of what's already in the works for enhancement makes this a wonderful keeper for the Bucc enthusiast.

Good job Gaffer and team!

ok

the COM2 I can fix, and the Mach meter. THe other issues with the VC, I am not going to fix, as the XML is too complex to make those items work. If this was payware, I would spend the time.

As for the FDE, i will pass those comments on to the FDE creator, and the auto gear retraction, I can sort very easy.

nor is there a switch to auto-retract the gear on take-off, as is present in the Flying Stations' S.1

The S.2 didn't have the auto-retract, well it did but then two aircraft were lost launching off the Vic in quick succession and one of the fixes was removing the auto-retract along with a redesign of the slipper tanks. Basically it caused a bit of an airflow disturbance which caused an over-pitch leading to a stall, delaying gear retraction let the speed build up to a state where there was more pitch authority.

Thanks Gaff,

On the matter of the auto-retraction (deck take-off), I should clarify - what I'm talking about is the enabling a feature allowing EITHER manual or automatic gear retraction. I wasn't making a case that the gear should be solely automatically retracted - having that "feature" on at all times might be a bit off-putting in some situations. Indeed, I understand it had naval operations in the lower-powered S.1 in mind, where the "Weight-on-switch" feature was needful both to clean the aircraft up and not overspeed the u/c.

I recall reading somewhere, in fact, that the on the S2 Mk2, the feature was disabled. Maybe the more knowledgeable Bucc folks can chime in on that.

Appreciate what you can fix - understand the rest.

Best regards,

BTW - slightly O/T, but the UKMIL Lossie AB is just fantastic. Nicely detailed scenery - and those Tornados are really nice. I've held off on putting any AI into my FSX, for fear my system's FPS will suffer. So understand my concern when I loaded a fairly detailed scenery, with a bunch of AI aircraft all milling around .... and yet, brilliant, smooth performance. Great job on that - it's where all my Buccs call home these days. For those who haven't seen UKMIL's scenery packs, search "UKMIL" in flightsim / FSX Scenery - a few RAF bases there to explore ...
