New FSX-Native Complex Aircraft: Antonov An-24RV

New rewritten flight dynamics from one of the authors of the FSX conversion out of the Avsim.su forums dated 16 January 2017. Comes with a new air file and new aircraft.cfg file, so backup any repaint entries. Haven't tried it yet.
Attached to this post.

UPDATE: The new FDE is excellent! Engine responsiveness is much improved which allows for finer control on final, airspeeds are by the book and realistic, and in general handling all around is wonderful.

This project seems awesome... I need to find the time to try it. Being a developer it is really difficult to find the time to fly anything that is not a WIP project of yours... and it is a shame. Then I confess I am one of those simmers that are a little frightened by cyrillic characters in the cockpit. But on the other side of the "flightsim iron curtain" there are some amazing developers and pretty exotic (for us) aircrafts to discover. This may be a (partial) solution to the problem of having too many P-51s and Cessnas (which is indeed an issue)...try and fly an Antonov!

Im having problems loading this aircraft up, im getting an exception and a fatal error warning before the sim shuts down, the version ive installed is from FSX aircaft at the main AvsimRus site, but im not sure if thats the best version to download, any ideas.

Ian..

This error is linked to the KLN GPS. Go back through the thread and you'll see I reported it early on. One of the members has posted a link to the latest KLN build.. use this instead of the one that comes with the model;)

Thanks Dave, cant seem to see your post anywhere but notice'd the links in SeanTK's first post, for the time being, ive just removed anything beginning with KLN90 from the panel folder, i rarely use GPS anyway, if thats what it is,
and now im flying :ernaehrung004:, i'll explore the fix's when i have more time, thanks again,

Sri for the curved ball mate. I made the post in the FIRST thread.. not this one started by Sean. Realised this when I went back and couldn't see my post here:banghead:

This is probably the better thread as Sean highlighted all the very latest bits to throw it all together. I've just flown it Geneva to Zurich and couldn't find the pitots so I'm gonna try the English panel:biggrin-new: I like to leave them authentic whenever possible but I'll fly this so little.. remembering where stuff is will be (and is) a problem.

I've not tried the new KLN (not really my thing either) but installing it fixed the problem and it's there should I ever want to use it. If I remember right.. it comes as an exe and is a remarkably simple install. Just install the gauge and do no more. The AN24 already knows where it is!!

I'll post the version I'm using (and the dynamics I'm using) later today. In short, I'm not using the link from the Avsimrus file library, I'm using one from the forum thread over there, as well as flight dynamics.

Thanks Sean, i thought i'd try and convert an X-Plane scheme over, found a good looking VVS camo skin that i like'd and after 2 mins with DXTBmp, im flying. Cant make my mind up if there's a mapping issue or thats how they really look'd, the black areas seem really black but you can just make out rivets and panel line's and the icing boots seem rather large, but i still like the look. Now i know how easy it is, i'll try a few more. :wavey:

You are welcome!

Just noticed this went to the third page, so for those looking for the base aircraft version I'm using, as well as the latest flight dynamics updates, check the bottom of the previous (2nd) page.

Cheers Sean:encouragement:

Do we need the update file with this model version or is it already incorporated?

Nice work on the VVS Ian:encouragement:

thanks,im partial to military scheme's, although the base model comes with the classic Areoflot paint, and it was'nt unknown for the Soviet national carrier to do a little multi-tasking, shall we say :biggrin-new:

Surely not!:biggrin-new:

As it happens.. I've only flown the Aeroflot paint. Something very 'Cold War' about it:encouragement:

Talking of which.. here's a few from today. All done today's date and time with ASN active. Flight started in Geneva then on to Brussels before eventually calling it a day for today in Bremen. Not sure where I'm going!!

The spooky last shot darkness was a consequence of me not loading the effects files (I often don't on newly installed models to stop my effects folder bursting at the seams). I'd forgotten to load them having classified this one as a keeper!!! I closed the sim after this shot and loaded em up before continuing on to Bremen!!

You'll need to install those updates as they aren't incorporated into the zip I included.

What is panel folder layout for the An-24

I d/l the An-24 and agree it looks great and I can't wait to really get into this airplane. My biggest problem though is the panel. I have a "Panel" folder with a bunch of sub folders with "systems??" gauges, etc. I get the panel textures, but no instruments or gauges themselves. I put in the updated kln90-fsx mod, but the plane does not load. FSX crashes and restarts. I substituted another entire panel into the aircraft folder, the plane loads, starts and flies for the most part. First I would like to get the plane to load with the "real An-24 panel" and not a sub that I used temporarily to try the plane out. I don't understand exactly how the file structure of the "Panel" folder should be. It's not like the conventional FSX layout I'm familiar with. Do I have to take everything out of subfolders and put into one big panel folder or what?. I agree this airplane looks great, I'd love to get it really in the air to try it and apply some of the performance fixes found in this thread. My favorite other plane is another Antonov, the An-2. Any help and information is appreciated. Thank you very much in advance..
