Mohawk, I don't believe I have seen any original photos of NACA 127 while it was with the NACA - at least post-NACA modifications, but the way it is currently finished, is how it looked then, with the exception of the aircraft being painted silver instead of bare metal.

Here is a photo of the aircraft after being assigned to the NACA, but before modifications:

Here is a photo of the aircraft a short time after its time with the NACA was over, and the aircraft was put on static display in ANG colors (you can see all of the NACA modifications still in-place - in which it would remain so when finally recovered and restored:

Here is a photo of NACA 148, appearing very close to how NACA 127 would have, at Edwards AFB:

Some close-ups of the wing testing-zones, showing some scale-model airfoils and aircraft designs attached - in this case a Lockheed P-80, and in the next photo, the Bell X-1:

And one of my favorite shots of NACA 127, upon its return to Edwards AFB following restoration:

On another note, NACA 126 still survives to this day as well, in the form of Mike Coutches' highly-polished P-51D 44-84864. The aircraft still sports its original NACA modified tail as well: http://mustangsmustangs.net/p-51/p51survivors/pages/44-84864.php

NACA was the first to develop the extended vertical fin on the P-51, and added the modification to their P-51B's as well. This was done to provide more yaw-stability during the high-speed dive tests. When Cavalier came around later, and developed their Mustang modification program, they adopted the same tail modification that NACA engineered.

VCN-1, each are completely stand-alone, and therefore 'fully-featured' and complete, no matter what part or parts you have installed.

Stunning work John. The best I've ever seen.... anywhere. :applause: :salute:

Now I've got to reinstall FSX and get this beauty.
