New ship conversions released by Thudman

Thudman submitted a new resource:

CFS3_FNS_Courbet - French battleship Courbet for CFS3

These models represent the Marine Nationale Courbet Class Battleships in 1913 and the Courbet 1939 form.
The latter have heavier AA armament. The Courbet was scuttled in 1944 to create part of the breakwater in Normandy. This is Stuart277's gmax model originally built for CFS2 converted to CFS3 using the gmax source files Stuart included with his CFS2 ship

There are two ships in this download.

Did your Yamato ever get published?

Hi Major..
To answer your question, no, I haven't gotten around to finishing the Yamato yet..there's been several reasons for this, between a computer that's always struggled with cfs3, work, and maybe my ambition being ahead of my gmax skill level..however,the ship is currently at a more or less fully functional/ testable stage,so I see no reason that mission builders can't make use it in the meantime..
cheers!,Jason..

IJN_Unyru_Class_Carriers - IJN Unryu class carriers for CFS3

The Unryu class aircraft carriers were World War II Japanese aircraft carriers. The Unryu-class aircraft carrier design was very similar to that of Hiryu. The main difference from Hiryu was that the carriers' island was placed on the starboard side of the ships. Only 3 ships of the planned 16 were completed

I made a high resolution version of the IJN_Unyru_t.dds file to smooth out the stair-step edges in the camo patterns. Just make sure you replace or delete every other copy of this file in your install or the original version may still show up.

KM Siebel Ferry - KM Siebel Ferry for CFS3

This Stuart277's gmax models of the KM Siebel Ferry originally built for CFS2 converted to CFS3. The Siebel ferry (Siebelfähre) was a shallow-draft catamaran landing craft operated by Germany's Wehrmacht during World War II. It served a variety of roles (transport, flak ship, gunboat, convoy escort, minelayer) in the Mediterranean, Baltic and Black Seas as well as along the English Channel.

Thudman submitted a new resource:

KM_Bussard_Class - KM Bussard Class seaplane tender for CFS3

Stuart277's CFS2 Bussard converted to CFS3.
The Bussard and its sister ship Falke were mainly used in Denmark and Norway during the war, which both survived. Their crane was able to lift aircraft up to 20t. Their catapult was able to launch aircraft of the same weight, enableing the ship to carry Dornier Do18, Dornier Do24 or Blohm &Voß BV138 aircraft.

Thanks for these! Especially nice to see the more recent ones having a damage model included. Can I request an update for the King George Vs that adds this? Would help with the Prince of Wales sinking.

Also, as I have been reworking effects, I am currently working on all new muzzle blast effects, including for the big battleship guns. These have never been updated as far as I know and could really use it. I finally found a good use for ChatGPT in that if I make a small blast for say a 5in gun, and a big one for a 46cm for Yamato, it can interpolate all of the parameters of the effect to produce an appropriately scaled duplicate effect for every caliber in between. I've got my 5in blast pretty much there, still working on getting my 46cm looking like I want it, but after that, I'll be able to generate an effect for literally every size of gun on every ship with very little effort. Those working on these ships and/or the Leyte Gulf project will be welcome to incorporate them into their projects.

I've been playing around with the new King George. It gives me a nice platform to test out some of my bigger gun flashes. I have noticed that many of the guns are not aligned with the direction they fire, and at least one of the octuple pom poms does this odd duplicate thing. I don't know what causes this, perhaps some wires getting crossed in the conversion process? BTW I love the octuple mounts. Getting CFS3 to use them properly might require a bit of creative thinking with the gun xdps, but it will probably be terrifying to fly against.

I found that I had not cleaned up vestiges on that gun and fixed pivot points on most of the gun. Not all of the pivots needed to be fixed. This should fix your problem.

I just tried this one, and there still seem to be some odd issues. The heavy twin AA turrets, as well as the octuple mounts have their gun blast going at 90 degrees to the barrels. Sometimes it seems like the direction the rounds actually go is aligned with the effect, and other times not. I think the port heavy AA rounds do not track the player but all seem to fire 90 degrees off, while the ones on the starboard side have the flak bursts tracking me well. I observed that tracer fire from the octuple mounts will track horizontally, but remain at 0 degrees vertically. Meanwhile the physical turret is elevated correctly, but pointing 90 degrees off. The muzzle flashes are aligned with the direction of the tracers. The light 20mm AA guns seem to be working correctly. They track me well and the physical model of the guns and the muzzle flashes are aligned with the direction of the tracers.

Heavy guns just fired, while pointing well away.

Octuple mounts firing flat, heavy AA muzzle blasts at 90 degrees to the barrel, but their flak bursts were on target.

Up close on the forward octuple mount showing correct elevation and 90 degree off traverse of the model while the tracers have correct traverse but level elevation. Muzzle blasts aligned with the tracers.
