Sangamon

Stuart,

Thank you! It's like you knew I was working on the Operation Torch missions! This fits the bill precisely. :very_drunk:

Redo of texture for USS Sangamon...

Some of the detail work on the side elevation is removable (separate layer in case the mapped pieces do nor coincide)... (hangar deck)

Comments, suggestions and corrections welcome (always a WIP)

Available to anyone interested as usual...

Cheers,

G.

Help with French

Hi All,

Dombral has been doing repaints of lots of the ships that I have done.

He seems to have had problems with the Richelieu.

I am not sure what they are, and his work looks pretty good to me.

I cannot speak French, and use 'translate' (which is pretty handy), but I am not sure of his exact problems.

As a background, when I do models in GMax, I start with making the texture, then I fit the model parts to the texture (which is probably not the best way as the model parts do not fit exactly).

Most small parts are textured in the generic colour boxes.

I did mean to do an accurate texture model, (I thought it was my best so far, individal guns etc).

Would it be possible if someone could find the exact problems from Dombral and let me know.

I have pm'd him as well.

Cheers,

Stuart

P.S. - I have read that you can make the model part, paste the 'framework' of the model into a blank 1024 x 1024 PaintShop layer and then texture the 'framework'. This would probably allow for other people to texture my models. Any thoughts?

Hi Gaucho

Nice Paintwork. :applause:

I have checked it with the the model and there are a couple of problems with my texturing technique (see Dombral message)

The side of the hull as made up with several parts that are not welded in GMax. It was a bit tricky to do the open hanger ports. I do not understand boolean shapes yet.

The model does not have the first 'green open area at all', but that seems to look pretty good, but I would need to move the boats, (easily done).

The three 'green ports' are a bit more problematical. In my model they are flat bottoms.

I do realize that they are 'sloped' at the bottom. I may be able to replicate that slope with welding in GMax. I will give at a go.

They could be removed from your texture, as they are actual openings.

The flight deck is really good but I will need to remap it slightly. (easily done).

Cheers,

Stuart
