New Ships released by Stuart!

Hi Captain
You are quite correct about running out of (large) ships to do. I still have quite a few dd and de types to deal with.
I just look at ships that were sunk by aircraft, or involved with air strikes.
There is an interesting ship that I should finish this week.
Guessing Competition.
Clues
Old Ship
SW Pacific

Cheers
Stuart

PS
thanks for all the kind replies

Hmm USS Langley CV-1 as converted to AV-3 seaplane tender - sunk by Betty bombers off Java while transporting P-40s?

Stuart,

My guess HNLMS Soerabaja

If you're running out of ideas for large vessels, how about a multi-LOD USS Saratoga we could paint camo onto?

Stuart277,

As far as the Kriegsmarine is concerned, with your newest vessel we now have most of the major types required.

The VN_Bismarck is serviceable, as is the Groundcrew version of the Bismarck and Tirpitz, albeit they are getting very old.

Likewise, Mas did a good representation of both a Deutschland-class cruiser, suitable for the Admiral Scheer, Admiral Graf Spee, and Deutschland, and an S-class torpedo boat.

Groundcrew ships for the Germans also include the Prinz Eugen, U-boats, another S-boat, Type 34 destroyer, and a barge. I'm sure there are other gaps that could be filled in.

Filling in gaps? there are the Flanders based German Destroyers from WW1, not to mention the UB and UC U-Boats operating out of Bruges. A model of the HMAHS Manunda would also be most welcome.

No
We have a USS Langley somewhere. I must check to see if it is as AV-3
Right theatre.
Cheers
Stuart

Hi Stuart

Bruce Baker did the CV-1 USS Langley - USN's first operational carrier in the 1920's.

There is no AV-3 version that I know of. The story of her fate during that time period is pretty dramatic and is illustrative of how desperate the allied militaries were in that theater then.

Yes there is an AV-3 version modelled by Bruce alongside the original CV-1, with P40 cargo modelled on the deck.

IIRC Maxstuka was trying to alpha out the P40s, I have a zip of some platform data I worked on for him at the time...

... could always do with an upgrade though :a1089:

and you are absolutely right CK, the story of it's fate really does bring home just how desperate the struggle was, & how close to being out of options the Allies were in those first few months of the PTO.

Wow you're right UncleTgt, and it's right here on SOH. I need more coffee this morning. The Langley I have in my storage folders is a stand alone CV-1, not sure where I got it anymore. That's what I based my answer on. Shouldn't make assumptions, you know what that means.:dizzy:
