I was surfing the web on my dad's laptop when all of a sudden a virus warning appears and a program is running a scan. This new threat is called Vista Total Security 2011. I hope that I can get it cleaned!

Try running MBAM and Spybot in safe mode with networking, MBAM is Malware Bytes Anti Malware.. Both are free and can be found at download.com

Those things are always on the web. When they pop up, I shut down Firefox as that seems to be the only way to get away from whichever site is hosting the virus. I will say, it is a very convincing pop up page, looks just like something MicroSoft would have designed.

I've run into that a couple of times recently. While searching for aircraft pictures in google as a matter of fact. I clicked the thumbnail image and as soon as I get to the website there was an onslaught of scanning and reporting viruses and trojan horses found. Doesn't respond to anything so I simply hit the off button on the PC. After I power back up I have my always up to date virus checker run a quick scan. It finds nothing.

I even got on one of these sites from an emailed link from an old associate pointing me to an aircraft sight that he (or someone) indicated I might like. Scary stuff.
:ernae:

I'm still dealing with this nasty little program. I've ran Malwarebytes and Spybot and it deleted some files, also ran F-secure online scanner but for some reason it wont delete the files, running the F-secure scanner again. I hope I can get rid of this or the laptop is going in to the computer shop!

I've seen quite a few of these fake Anti-viruses pages pop-up. I just Ctrl Alt Delete and go to processers to shut down iexplore.exe *IE8* before the pop-up can do any damage.

Good morning, I too can't stand to be surfing and get that crap-o-la your pooter has been infected and then that auto scan starts...lol. You would think that a person would have something better to do with his time than to create a progam that just piss's off people.

Same as this..only it's Google Chrome in my case.

This sounds like the epasode with Mr Nick Skrepetos and the "SuperAntiSpyware" Program. After I bought his program (He watched as I opened PayPal and paid for his program) and then he took 3 payments of $199.99 from my account in the name of Koram Games. Mr Nick was at one time an author with one of the gaming companys.
This is a very upstanding man. He takes money from you in someones name.
I got a refund of my money but it was him that took it. I found 2 root kits in my computer that SuperAntiSpyware placed. AVG took them out. I also think that he was the cause of the "Mellisa" infection that I just removed from my computer. "Melissa " was emailinjg everyone on my email address book, except that it was using an old one on "D:\" drive.

Very nice gentleman.

F-Secure Online Scanner

I've ran the scanner a couple of times and has found malware but it's -1, has any one else run into this problem? I've posted over at bleeping computers in the virus/trojan help forum but it seems like they are swamped right now.
